I went back about 13 pages and 2 years, and didn't see a thread. With all the religious themes, I bet it would make for fun discussion here...plus I just love that show. ..Just My Imagination was a recent example of a top notch episode

I like the slight twists on theology. ..Cain saved Abel from going to hell by bargaining for his soul, Leviathans, God's sister, Lucifer and Michael, prophets, etc. I also like the idea that it's all real, you have angels and demons, Greek and Norse gods, vampires, werewoves, ..pretty much every supernatural creature.

So I have been a fan of supernatural for a few years and I have noticed that as the years go by the shows attitude towards God gets worse. I do not know if any of you have seen it lately but in recent episodes there is a God character. On one of these episodes when the character playing God was asked where he had been, Chuck (God in the show likes to be called Chuck) answers the question by saying he has been dating girls and has also been dating boys, this was a few weeks ago. I have never felt so uncomfortable watching a show, as I sat there I had to ask myself if I should be watching the show at all.
On today's episode Chuck (God) was defeated by his twin sister Amara who represents darkness. Not to mention, they also Chuck or "God" apologizing to Lucifer. The character that plays God is an utter idiot, I think it's pretty obvious that Eric Kripke is making the character of God seem weak and unintelligent on purpose and I am very bothered by this. Do you guys think that as a Christian it is appropriate for me to be watching the show and thus supporting it?

I noticed the same things as you, and every time something like this happens, it doesn't really bother me because back in the season 6 episode "The French Mistake", they established that Supernatural takes place in a different reality from ours. I admit, that sometimes when the characters talk about what they have faith in, I kind of want to knock their heads together, because they actually need God. But in their universe, God is AWOL at best. So basically, that's how I think about.

Does that help you any?
