  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm doing a little art project with Super Sculpey and I was wondering if anyone on here has used it. Actually I am making a chess set with a Biblical theme and my figures can be up to an inch thick. It's a longshot but I thought there might be someone on here he could tell me if there is a limit to how thick I can make the figures.

I have worked w/ Sculpey before :) If you want to prevent the sculpy from being too thick (or just save on some clay ;) ) you can use tin foil as filler. I don't think 1" thick would be too bad but when ever I want to make something big I will wad up foil and then spread the clay over that. works pretty good and you don't use as much clay like that

Chess set!! that is an awesome idea!! Good luck and take a pic when you are done!

God bless!!

I am a bit late with this, but if you have any questions about polymer clay that isn't answered at glass attic, you can send email to the site manager...

Warning, if you enjoy working with your Sculpey, don't go to this site if you only have a few minutes... it is massive and very interesting... I get lost in there every time I go there... 90 topics and 1700 pages all devoted to PC... gotta love it!

Thanks for the tip and I have gotten the black pawns done allready. I am more concerned about the knights then anything else since they are going to be considerably larger.

I went on the site and your right, you can get lost on there. I appreciate the advice and I found an interesting section on using pasta machines. Thanks a bunch.

You are very welcome. Someone in a yahoo! jewelry group pointed me to that site and I love it.

If you get a pasta machine to work your clay with, you will love it. I haven't been able to do much claying around lately, but the pasta machine was a real good addition to my clay tools. It's a blessing to someone with smaller, less strong hands such as myself where conditioning the clay is concerned and it makes such a difference in the appearance of a finished piece if there is a need for a sheet of clay in the design. I had such fun playing with it when I first got mine, the clay looks and feels so soft and smooth.
