  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Super Hero Headquarters

Dear Readers,

Hello, this is Tom Dilerd. Most of you don't know me- now is a time to get to know me.

Anyway, this is an OCC Forum for something that will be made- I want to gather supporters and see if people even like the idea. I'm wondering what YOU want to be in it. It will most liekly be called "City of Heroes". You may remember seeing that a moth back or so, but never clicked on it, eager to get to another RPG.
What is it about?

In short, You can be a super hero (girls come too), choose your powers, and make your living. You live in a City of Heroes. Think that most of the worlds super heroes are in the World's largest city, Paragon City Rhode Island, U.S.A.
Here, from the City of Heroes website:

Welcome to Paragon City, the greatest city in America and home to the world’s most famous heroes. The city has claimed for itself the title "birthplace of the hero," an assertion that may or may not be true. However, no one can deny the fact that today Paragon City is home to more super powered heroes than any other metropolis on the planet. Why? Because not only is Paragon City the largest city in the US, it also goes out of its way to support its hero population. In Paragon City, heroes fight crime and villainy with the government’s approval and to the population’s applause. Here a hero can rise to the heights of fame, fortune, and power as long as he keeps his image positive and the local authorities appeased.

How did Paragon City become such a haven for super powered heroes? To answer this question, one must look back through the city’s own storied and sometimes tragic history.

It had been more than a decade since the Portal Corp was destroyed and much of the world had all but forgotten about possible threats from other dimensions. On May 23rd, 2002, they had a rather rude reminder. On that date, at approximately 4:30 PM Eastern Standard Time (U.S.), thousands upon thousands of red lights began to appear in Paragon City. The lights took the form of perfect, flat circles, ranging in diameter from 9 feet to 100 yards. One reporter in a traffic helicopter likened them to "windows into the flaming heart of hell" before he and his vehicle disappeared forever, presumably swallowed up when another "window" opened on top of them. No one was yet quite sure what they were looking at, but it was obvious that they were dangerous - anything the red lights touched they seemed to devour.

Of course the city's heroes came out in force to investigate. The Freedom Phalanx, the Dawn Patrol, and Hero Corps all sent teams out into the city to prepare for whatever came next. The Midnight Squad's most powerful magicians and knowledgeable mystics tried to determine whether or not the lights had a magical origin. The discs of light kept appearing and were soon all over the city, from huge discs high above the skyline to smaller ones at street level and even inside buildings. The population quickly panicked and clogged the exit routes, trying to flee whatever disaster was about to beset them. Soon reports came in from other cities and countries. The lights had popped up in 27 other places around the world, all of them major population centers.

(Oh yes, htere is magic, so be happy or offended).
What happens, in my own wording, is Aliens come to the Eearth and destory a lot of it.
They Destroy lots of Paragon City too. Afterwards, to help rebuild it and to protect it, Paragon City invited all Super Heroes come to the City.
Lots came. They fight crime, protect people, save kitties from trees, etc.

Be a hero. There's a lot more to it, but this is int he OOc Forums, not the Movie&Books Forums. I'll explain more later. A Thread ont he Movie&Books forum does not exist right now, because I am not totally ready to start it. But, I was wondering whether in due time, wondering if...

IF YOU WANT TO BE A SUPER HERO?

Sincerely,
~Tom Dilerd,of the Super Hero Commitee of Paragon City, Christian Fourms.

I repeat that this is not the Forum where we will be playing (or course). We're simply talking abot, and making the game here before coming out with a different version. Her's some power types( that's what I call them) of super hero you can be:

BLASTER:

The Blaster is an offensive juggernaut. Whether up close or afar, he can deal out tremendous amounts of damage. In comparison to the other Archetypes, the Blaster is by far the most damaging to the enemy. But the Blaster is quite fragile; this Archetype has relatively few hit points. Blaster heroes must be on their guard before getting into combat; while their immense power can overcome most foes, alone they are quite vulnerable. The Blaster can turn the tide of a conflict, but they need their friends to help them succeed.

Hit Points: Low

Damage: High

Primary Power Category - Ranged Attacks
Secondary Power Category - Melee Attacks

CONTROLLER:

The Controller is at the same time the weakest and yet the most powerful of the archetypes. The Controller has few offensive attacks and possesses the fewest hit points. But the Controller has access to a range of powers that no one else has: the Control power sets. Armed with these powers, a Controller can affect the behavior of villains - from freezing them in place to routing them away. Armed with such abilities, the Controller is the backbone of many groups involved in large-scale battles - but the Controller depends upon his teammates for protection.

Hit Points: Low

Damage: Low

Primary Power Category - Control
Secondary Power Category - Buff/Debuff

DEFENDER:

The Defender is a long-range support specialist. This Archetype is effective with ranged attacks (though not quite on par with the Blaster), but the Defender's true worth shines in another area. Defenders are the premier helpers in the game - they are the best at strengthening their teammate's abilities (buffing) and weakening foes (debuffing). They aren't built for lengthy hand to hand combat, though they aren't fragile, either. The Defender needs to keep an eye both on his teammates and the enemy - in order to see which requires his powerful attention first!

Hit Points: Medium

Damage: Medium

Primary Power Category - Buff/Debuff
Secondary Power Category - Ranged Attacks

SCRAPPER:
No lone criminal wants to cross paths with a Scrapper - because odds are that only the Scrapper is going to walk away. Ferocity and skill make the Scrapper master of hand to hand combat. However, Scrappers do not have any ranged attacks, so they rely on the other Archetypes to help in battles requiring long-range punch. The Scrapper is resilient, though, and after the Tanker, the best Archetype at withstanding damage.

Hit Points: Medium

Damage: High

Primary Power Category - Melee Attacks
Secondary Power Category - Defense

View the Scrapper walkthrough

TANKER:

The Tanker is an irresistible force combined with an immovable object. This Archetype can take and dish out all sorts of damage. The Tanker is not totally invulnerable, but his skills allow the other Archetypes to play their parts, too. The Tanker is a devastating hand to hand combatant, and ranks second only to the Scrapper in sheer melee power. He possesses some ranged abilities, though far below those of the Blaster or the Defender. Tankers proudly stand in the front lines of battle in order to protect their comrades and, of course, the innocent.

Hit Points: High

Damage: Medium

Primary Power Category - Defense
Secondary Power Category - Melee Attacks

Here's super hero types you can be:

Heroes come from many places. Some are born to power, while others seek it out. There are even those who have no special abilities, who rely upon technology or their own skills to help them fight crime. While they are heroes one and all, origins have an important effect upon what kind of hero someone becomes. City of Heroes presents five different origin types for players to choose from:

MUTANT:
The Mutant was born with his powers. His innate abilities appeared either at birth or puberty. A rare few did not develop until adulthood. These powers set the mutant apart from the rest of mankind; they are capable of far more than any normal human being. Mutants are sometimes feared for their strange talents, but are more often admired by the public at large.

SCIENCE:
The Science hero received his powers either through purposeful scientific inquiry or through some accident gone awry. The hero might not understand the forces that bestowed his super powers; all he does understand is that nothing is the same anymore.

TECHNOLOGY:
A technological hero uses gadgets to battle the forces of evil. No one else has been able to duplicate the amazing technology that lies behind these gadgets. This hero need not be a brilliant inventor; he can also be a normal guy who has received these gizmos from some benefactor.

NATURAL:
A natural hero isn't "super" at all; his amazing talents are derived from intense training and innate abilities. He may have been guided since birth to become the physical specimen that he is, or perhaps some tragedy has driven him to seek perfection.

MAGIC:
The magical hero receives his powers from a magical source. These abilities might stem from a mystical artifact that the hero has gained over the years - or perhaps the hero has mastered numerous spells that provide him with superhuman gifts.

I got this pasted fromt he City of Heroes site. update later.

Sincerely,
~Tom V. Dilerd, of the Super Hero Commitee of Paragon City, Christian Forums.

Alright! Don't worry, you'll do fine. You can do magic- that might help since you like fantasy so mcuh. oh, I say that you guys can be a real super hero- as Spiderman,or sometihng. But try not too. Make something creative that could resemble that particular super hero. Let's say I liked Wolverine, I could:
Be a genecticly engineered clone that has adamite bones. Created bya bitter person who thinks Wolverine kille dhis kid. he goingnon a rampage against all mutants. He gave his clone different powers of the X-Man. Cyclops laser sight, Wolverine's claws, Nightscrawlers transporting abilitys...

So, what ever. But remember the super hero types so on. We can flex them a little, if we need too, but I think they would make could guidelines.

Wish you Supers well,
~Tom V. Dilerd, of the Super Hero Commitee of Paragon City, of Christian Forums.

Okay! Natural you are. Do you think we should just go ahead and list whoes what and who here? if so, tell me your opinon. One more thing- onlyone character alowed! Oh and byt he wya, you can be a villian too. There's actaully a sequel coming out for the City of heroe gme, called City of Villians. What we could say that thier is a twin city of crime, on the east side of a river seperating it from Paragon City. Kind of like the place of St. Louis, Missouri, and East St. Louis Illinois. Or New York City and Manahatten ilsan, only Manhatten Island is the City of Villians. We could come up with something, for sure.
