CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

A much politically charged game and the outcome was far different then what was hoped. All in all a satisfying game.

? Halftime was politically charged but not the game. Just a tough defensive battle. Somehow I always expected a Manning SB to be a 45-42 type shootout.

Average at best. Forgettable halftime. Never liked Manning. Hate the Broncos. The only good that can come out of it is Manning should go away now.

one of the worst super bowls i've ever suffered through and i have been following them since oakland vs philly
broncos are the first super bowl victor to produce under 200 offensive net yards. they set a super bowl record.
the game failed to produce any excitement and thrills. nothing memorable happened, toss the highlight reel in the can for this blunder bowl.
both offensives were an exercise in futility
furthermore i am sick of manning too i am sick of hearing about him i am sick of seeing him on my television everyday via the killing he is making off of those papa johns and nationwide commercials

It's a shame you can't appreciate an outstanding defensive performance, but to each their own.
As for Manning, he's likely to retire, so perhaps you can take solace in that.

In another thread about the Super Bowl that has since been closed I gushed on about the exhilarating experience of being an audience member for the halftime show, and a few people asked me questions. I answered one but popped offline before the others came in. Since I cannot respond to them in that thread, I hope no one minds that I'm posting here instead.

The Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles (YOLA) who performed with Coldplay attended more rehearsals with them, and also got to meet Beyonce, Mark Ronson, and Bruno Mars. They devoted a tremendous amount of time and energy into preparing for the show. Chris Martin even led everyone in singing "Happy Birthday" to one of the kids. Our part in the show wasn't nearly as important, and we didn't personally interact with any of the professional musicians. We chatted with the kids, who all raved about how humble, friendly, and welcoming all the celebrities were to them. It was clear they were sincerely valued for their immense talent and contributions to the show.
We were just audience members surrounding the stage but never on it, and our instructions were basically just to have a blast and not run into any of the camera crew. Some got close enough for a high five from Chris Martin or Beyonce, but I don't think any of us actually met them. Everyone attended a six hour rehearsal on January 31, but most of that focus was on those who were actually performing. Little factoid - Beyonce's mic was turned off so that people couldn't hear her song since it hadn't been released yet.

Oopsie daisies, I hadn't realized the video couldn't be played here. Yes, I can see the back of myself for a nanosecond at the 4 second mark, haha. I wasn't close enough to the stage to be captured on camera much. Some of my friends were clearly visible.
The coordinator for the halftime show invited several student groups from Stanford to participate as audience members, including two that I'm in. None of us were invited individually, so it wasn't something we'd earned but just lucked into. The Broncos had practiced on campus, and it's possible we were invited as a show of thanks. Or, the coordinator might have simply been seeking a group of people who could follow basic instructions and be wildly enthusiastic during the show, haha.

no i appreciate outstanding defensive performances but when neither offensives can produce a drive with fumbles, interception, and the recovery team cant produce anything either.
there was another super bowl record denver broke and it was something like 11 or 12 or 13 straight denver possessions on 3rd downs they failed produce a first down and move the yard markers.
punt... punt... punt... punt... etc, etc.
yes 11-13 straight denver possessions resulted in 3rd downs and punts. maybe a turnover or two too.
it was a dull super bowl that featured for more than 3 and 3/4 quarters of the game 1 single offensive touchdown and 1 single defensive touchdown. both offenses looked terrible.
