Yes it would seem pointless from a non-Christian perspective!!

Hmmm! Maybe the some explanation is required after all I am a Christian you are not, therfore we have differing world views. The point of the thread is to ask fellow Christians who are likely to have a similar worldview to me, if they consider the song to be written from a Christian point of view. Why? Well firstly because of the lyrics and secondly it is my understanding that the Proclaimers are Christians.

I am not being defensive, I just fail to see how a non-Christian's viewpoint would be helpful in this matter, and this is a Christian forum after all!!

Hope that clears the matter up for you, and that you will respect my right to seek out the opinions of fellow Christians when it is appropriate.
