Sunday School.

First off I want to be a Children's Minister, thats what I think I was called today I love kids.

I am an assisant teacher for the 6-9 year olds on Wed Nights and just recently will be a Sunday School Teacher for the 7-10 year old kids at our Church.

What can I expect being in the Sunday School class every week with these kids?

You should expect to see great things happen in your kids-- even if it seems to take 10 years.

You should expect to get very tired and weary in your teaching days-- and learn that God is your one and only source of strength.

You can expect some Sundays where none of the kids listen-- and you can expect some Sundays where you see a 9 year old sprawled on the floor praying, a seven year old asking you if God will forgive him for hiding dinner's broccoli under his bed, and a 10 year old sitting near the altar showing a 4 year old how to come to Christ.

You can expect to leave church in tears-- sometimes in frustration and sometimes because yet another child came to the Lord.

You will find yourself having nightmares of kids attacking you-- then realize it wasn't really a nightmare when you're laying on the classroom floor with 10 kids piled on top of you screaming, "We finally killed Goliath!"

You can expect to be known on a first name basis at the Christian Supply store.

You can expect to be walking down the grocery store aisle when 'I Have the Joy, Joy, Joy" runs through your head for the billionth time that day.

You can expect to have paint stains on your nice church clothes, scissors in your back pocket (or girls, in your purse), and have a frequent glue buyer's card at Office Max.

You will have rug burn on your knees from the 50th puppet show, and realize that sometimes kids will listen to a puppet long before they'll even think about listening to you.

You can expect to see great things happen in your kids-- even if it seems to take 10 years.

Well, I can't beat that.
But the biggest thing that struck me about teaching, is that everything has to be done in tiny increments. You can have the best intentions and most ingenious ideas, but they'll only last five minutes. (-:

ok so I cant beat that post but the biggest thing I say expect... expect the unexpected LOL Kids have huge hearts and huge imaginations and they are constantly coming up with things in their mind, questions, ideas, whatever.

Children is my passion as well, and I love them dearly- It is so frustrating at times (I teach 3-6 yr old childrens church) but so rewarding as well- my almost 2 yr old goes to class with me every week, and my biggest reward, is she sings every song we've ever sung and does it well- it melts my heart to see a child so young, praising God- she even lifts her hands hehe
