  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Aloha All,

I am trying to stay off social media as much as I can. Seems to suck me in. So I just deactivated a few accounts. Need a break. Anyway looking to get into a good book. Possibly something Christian but doesn't have to be. Nothing with gore or crap like that. Maybe mystery, or something inspiring. Something that catches your interest in first chapter. Any good suggestions?
Thanks

What age rating (teen, young adult, adult) for content, etc. ? You don't like gore, but how do you feel about other "nsfw" ? I guess if a title interests you, you can always google the content.

Watership Down (Richard Adams), Jurassic Park (Michael Crichton), The Gun Seller (Hugh Laurie), Into the Wilderness (Sara Donati), The Mirror of Her Dreams (Stephen R. Donaldson)

Hey if you like Christian SciFi - there is the Firebird series by Katy Tyers. (she has also written for the Star Wars series books)

She also has a few stand-alone SF Christian novels like Shivering World.

I am going to suggest The Book Of Adam And Eve part one pdf.

You can read it online or download it..there is a preface first and then it starts..it starts to get good about chapter 5 or 6 and is sooo enlightening! Tell me what you think...

I love Philippa Gregory. She writes about the time period surrounding the Tudor reign in England. I just finished the King's Curse and am now reading The Constant Princess, but I have read many, many of her books and never get tired of them.

One that is harder to get into at the beginning but so worth it in the end is To Serve a King by Donna Russo Morin. It's about a girl handpicked by a king to be raised as a spy in another king's court. She must feign loyalty to one king in order to show her loyalty to another. Her entire upbringing is brought into question and she has to decide what is right and what is wrong, coming to terms with what she sees and what she has been taught her whole life.
