"Rejoice , that you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed." [1 Peter 4:13]
How can you be overjoyed when you are going through trials and tribulations? Remember what Jesus said," If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, I have chosen you out of this world. That is why the world hates you. Remember the words I spoke to you; " no servant is greater than his master." If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teachings, they will obey yours also." [ John 15:18-20 ]
When you experience suffering for the glory of God, most of us do not look seriously at the future. We think only of the present. Many of God's children determine their way of life by the values of time rather than eternal values.
Have you ever considered how you will enjoy heaven? Some people think of heaven only by the physical description (the mansions, the streets of gold, etc.) but the most important thing about heaven is being with the Lord Jesus Christ Himself. The real pleasures of heaven will be the fellowship we will have with the Eternal God who gave his Son that we might live with him forever.
