• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Submitted your consideration.

Big tech finally held trump accountable.
Scalise is simply admitting trump's online behavior was worse than autocrats and terrorists across the world. Like a child with no inhibitions.
Sure. He so much worse than a communist dictator.

Has the communist dictator made posts that break the rules of Twitter?

Being on Twitter isn't determined by one's character but simply by what one posts on Twitter. It's all about one's behavior on Twitter not anywhere else.

I always find it interesting when conservatives want more regulation when they say that is exacting what they are against. Democracy, freedom of speech and expression, but more regulation of the same?

Where did I say I wanted more regulations?

Are there any who are blocked?

But that's not what Scalise said. He said "Members of Congress are blocked". He didn't give names or say "some" or "some GOP" members. All his other examples of the blocked (Trump, Babylon Bee) and unblocked (CCP, Taliban, the Ayatolah) are specific individuals/accounts.

Which "members" are blocked?

I don’t know. That’s why I asked.

However, he was correct on the other points.

Where did I say I wanted more regulations?

Certainly Scalise wants more regulation.

House Republican Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) today joined Republican Leader of the Energy and Commerce Committee Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash.) and Energy and Commerce Committee Republicans in launching the next phase of their solutions to hold Big Tech accountable, including a sweeping package of discussion draft bills aiming to boost transparency, provide content moderation accountability, reform Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, promote competition, and prevent illegal and harmful activity on their platforms.

I doubt any of that will get anybody's ban undone, but at least he's saying the right thing to get knees to jerk.

And if I am a company with a platform, say, like a newpaper or website, facebook twitter, etc. -- you still don't have a right to force your own words into my platform unless I choose to allow you to publish there.

Why?

It's called "free enterprise".

You don't control what you don't own.

Let Trump buy twitter if he wants to control twitter.

Twitter is a web site with rules for users, just like CF.
Violating rules gets one suspended or removed.

Virtually all sites like these have rules against harassing other users. "The Babylon Bee" was suspended for 12 hours for harassment. (A tweet mocking trans people.)

Perhaps the CCP and Taliban are just better behaved on Twitter than certain members of Congress.

Yessir, hence the trump ban on socials.
If I was arrested for my actions like trump was banned for his actions, I couldn't ask the judge to dismiss my case because I am somehow better than a communist dictator. I reap what I sow, as trump is now finally forced to acknowledge himself. Why the seemingly desperate need to defend trump and his behavior? This is confusing.

It sounds like you want Twitter regulated, telling them who they can ban and who they can't. Do you think they should change their rules for using their site?

I do agree that Twitter is too aggressive in its banning policies. However, the conservative principle here is that Twitter can ban anyone they want for any reason and if enough people don't like it the platform will have to change its stance to survive. Many conservatives are using other platforms or complying with the rules to get back on. My question to progressives is do they believe the same thing? If a private platform is ok with comments against trans people are they ok with that?
