Last year my roommate was a fairly new and naive drinker. He came from a conservative Vietnamese family and hadn't drank before coming to uni. He would try to keep up with the rural Albertan boys and the second years who all had 3 or 4 years of time to build up resistances and he would just make an absolute idiot of himself.
One night stands out though, in that he managed to evacuate a tower of 400 people at around 3am on the first weekend of midterm exams. He was sleeping in his bed while myself and a friend were up watching movies and playing video games. He'd jump up every so often, run down the hall and puke in the bathroom, then come back and pass out again. This happened a few times before my friend asked, "Do you think we should help him?" to which I replied "No." Immediately after I said this, I heard to door to our wing open and one of the other floormates begin pleading with my roommate to "Don't puke there, come in here... puke in the bathroom". Turns out he was leaning against the doorframe for the bathroom and dry-heaving. So my floormate yanks him into the tiled bathroom at the last second and avoids puke on our carpet. However, as he was pulling, my roommate reached out for a handhold... of course he finds the fire alarm handle.
Needless to say, I wasn't too pleased nor were the other 400-someodd people in the tower. He somehow managed to avoid having to pick up the bill for 3 firetrucks, 1 fire marshall cruiser, 15+ firefighters all being called out for what amounted to at least an hour (which means he would have been charged for 2 hours because any portion of an hour counts as a full hour.) I mean, I don't know how it happened, but this close to 3000$ bill wasn't levied against him...
PS - I love dorms... I'm going to be coming back for my 4th year in the freshman dorms with 2 other buddies (we're all on some committee or hold some post in our res) so it should be a lot of fun. I mean, I just got my own single room this year, so I want to enjoy it! I've got all the tricks and special techniques down pat so I want a chance to enjoy a full year with them.
