  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hello

I have a book with study questions about the gospels and there are a couple of questions I am really stuck on and wondered if anyone could shed any light for me?

They are all about Matthew

1. Matthew 1-2: 'Can you think of any contemporary examples of people who ignore Jesus' Jewishness and message, and mold him into an expression of their own religion or worldview? (Hint: Jesus as an "ascended master" - Hinduism; or Jesus as a revolutinary Marist.)'

2. 'An important aspect of Jesus' ethical teaching is found in Matthew 23:23. According to Jesus, all scripture is God's Word, and all will be fulfilled (see Matthew 5:17-18); therefore, there are such things as moral absolutes. Yet here Jesus clearly acknowledges that some matters of the Law are weightier than others. What are these weighter matters?'

3. 'Why would some people be apprehensive or angered by what Jesus did?' (Regarding the miricles in Matthew 8-9).

4. 'How would Jesus' miricles enhance His proclamation of the kingdom of God being "at hand" (Matthew 4:17 KJV).'

5. Matthew 10:32-33 'According to Jesus, how important is it for christians to publicly identify themselves with christ? Why do you think this identificatin is so important to Jesus?'

Any input will be greatly appreciated :)
