  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I dropped out of college maybe a year and a half ago to start working. My GPA fell down for the limit to where I can't get the main scholarships that our state gives out.

I could do loans, but it's all dependent on what my parents make (at least, until I'm 23) and then it goes by what I make. So I wouldn't have enough to quite pay for it. :S

My dad says he'll pay for one of my classes, but I'm afraid I'll mess up again...I have a lot of trouble concentrating, it seems like.

I'm sure there are quite a few people in this sort of situation. You know, the "can't afford it" boat.

I want to do something with my life, but sometimes I just get envious of other people who actually have people helping them out, or have much more luck than I'll ever have (concerning school funding).

While it may not be fair, there's nothing much I can do. But I swear, sometimes I feel like it's just not meant to be. :\

You may need to do what I'm doing to recover from an initially poor college GPA: use loans to get yourself started up again, then get the absolute best grades you possibly can to fund the rest of your education with scholarships. It can work, but you'll need to perform well in order to make it happen. It sucks not having anyone to pay your way, but it's no excuse to not make it happen if it's what you want. You'll just have to work harder than the average trustfund kid to do it.

The same thing happened to me, I was unable to go back to school. My life has been more fulfilling since that time. I became an Electrician then I was a pre-school teacher, now im gonna get a job as a houseparent with my wife. Going to college just ends up being one more piece of paper and these days alot less responsibility. Remember Jesus used ordinary men for his disciples and not the scholars

Well, Luke, Matthew, and Paul were very well educated, even by modern standards.

The rest of them were poorly educated, and in some cases could not even read or write, as some of them dictated their letters to another author.

Jesus himself had no formal education.

I think the biggest problem facing this generation as far as "natural" events is greed and reliance on technology itself.

The technology is so rapidly out pacing culture and general education that none of us can keep up with any of it. We need an expert for everything to do even the simplest task any more, because everything is so high tech and specialized.

Good to hear that you'll be taking a class. Sometimes little by little is the way to take it.

One thing I was going to suggest (if you're not already doing so) is to take a course or two at a community college. The prices are usually pretty low, and if you do well enough, you might become eligible for scholarships and the like. You would be surprised how much is available sometimes.
