  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Dear family in Christ
I have been struggling with really perverted thoughts since I became a believer many many years ago. The strange thing is, that before I came to Christ I didn't battle. It was only after I really started walking with Christ that I noticed these things. Is there anyone here who has experienced these thoughts and has overcome them? Ready to do whatever it takes to be free. There have been times of victory for me, but I would really like to start walking closer to God and I feel that these things are hindering me. If someone could pray that I find the road to victory, that would be much appreciated.
Kind regards

Lord I lift your precious child Nathan up in prayer. Guide his thoughts Lord. As it say in Phillipians 4:8, help him to think on things that are true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, commendable, excellent, anything worthy of praise, that he will only think on those things. I thank you for covering his mind. In Jesus name, Amen.

The thoughts you've been struggling with are not a surprise. It's nothing but the enemy. The reality is, you have chosen to follow Christ which is an amazing thing. I'm so happy for your desicion. But now understand that the devil is now trying to distract you because you have made this decision. Think about it, why would he feel threatened when you weren't following Christ? He already had you then, so you weren't a threat at the time. But the fact that you have now chosen to do life with God, the fact that you will now get to experience truly all the amazing things God has for you, this makes the devil angry. So now he's thinking, let me throw these thoughts in his mind to try to make him fall. But remember that the bible talks about how weak the devil is. He has no power over you. So even though you have now become a target to his attacks, the good news is this: because Christ now lives inside of you, you have the power to fight back! God is with you every step of the way. Remember that. God Bless you my friend.

This is only a temporary generation so that God could use His prophet and us saints to testify to His knowledge called Christ to learn how we're created. So whatever you're experiencing as far as good and evil thoughts and images, they're all coming from Satan. Satan will be destroyed on the day your flesh perishes and will be totally destroyed on the day of the Lord along with the beast. The fire of God will kill all the rest of the flesh of man on that day that are born of Satan and who worship the beast who has taught man how to build false gods with their human hands.

So victory is in the near future for you when you experience your flesh dying. Then you will wake up in new bodies on a new earth and hear the voice of God for the first time like all us servants have during this temporary generation.

John 5:
25: "Truly, truly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live.
26: For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son also to have life in himself,
27: and has given him authority to execute judgment, because he is the Son of man.
28: Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming when all who are in the tombs will hear his voice.

I feel for you, bro. Before I became a Christian, I was into sexual perversion and dope. As a Christian I had tremendous struggles. I discovered overcoming power by faith (1 John 5:5), but it took years for me to figure out what faith was and how to exercise it. It doesn't mean I'm perfect, and I'm certainly not. Part of the Christian walk is the development of faith, it is not a "light switch" that is either on or off, but more like a "muscle" that needs to be exercised to grow, and it can make you sore.

It is also something that has to be directed toward Christ. Away from ourselves. This is why Jesus' atoning sacrifice is so important and fundamental to the Christian faith. We approach God (and believe in His divine presence) on the basis of Christ's work, and not on the basis of our personal holiness.

Romans 3:10-18 and 7:7-12 tells us that by ourselves, we are evil, and our actions prove it. We simply become more aware of our lack of holiness when the Word of God comes to us. Therefore our only recourse is to call on the Lord for His deliverance, since we cannot deliver ourselves. But the gospel tells us that we are already delivered, spiritually speaking. And we believe this because the Word of God tells us. However, we know by experience that our soul also needs deliverance, and this is an ongoing journey. It is through this journey that we learn faithfulness, patience, perseverance, and endurance of faith. It means we must have a long-term vision. We must be in it for life. Therefore, "putting off the deeds of the flesh" will probably take some time.

May God be with you in your journey, and may He give you more grace. May He make you strong in faith.

That's good advice. God told me yesterday that I am looking for a single experience of deliverance and that there are no quick fixes. This broken and imperfect shell that we live in will be with us til the day we die. And yet the process is putting off the old man and putting on Christ each day. It's tough and its a process that one has to commit to. I only recently came back to Christ after many many years away. I was saved in 2001 and fell away. Returned to God in 2016. It was a glorious experience.

Praying for you brother
The closer your relationship is with God, the easier it is to leave the old thoughts and ways behind.
Psalm 119:105 , Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.
God Bless you

The following is what I wrote for someone having problems with "Scary Thoughts". I think it would be helpful for you too.
Jabez prayed similarly. See his prayer in 1 Chronicles 4:10. Father, I pray that You will show this one what is in Your Word about what to think about (Philippians 4:8), and how that we can choose what we think about. Colossians 3:16 Amen.
Our mind is like a flower garden. Pack the flowers (good thoughts) so densely into the garden so that there isn't any room for the weeds (bad thoughts) to find a spot to grow. Remember, garbage in, garbage out. Be careful what you allow to enter your mind through TV, movies, books, Internet, etc.

Praying for you in the name of Jesus Christ. Thank You Lord!

It can also be a sign that when we get closer to Christ, we more fully realize how sinful we are and how badly we need His mercy. When we were yet lost, we didn't see how wicked our ways truly were.
