  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I feel I am currently struggling in my walk. I definitely have faith in God & believe & love the Lord Jesus..... but I feel so disconnected and spiritually tired.

I attend church twice a week .... and I talk to God throughout my day.... but why do I struggle to open my Bible? I feel like every time I open it, I am instantly bored. (In the past, I have read nearly the entire bible; it's just that right now I can't get into it). I pray regularly, but the climate of this world makes my prayer life seem weak; although I'm constantly praying against the evils we all face.

What advice do you have? I'd love to strengthen my faith. I've never felt like "I'm tired of doing this" to this extent. I won't give up... I'm just tired and I want to feel connected to the Lord again.

Thanks for letting me share

Beloved one, consider after a physical person get tired. What he or she would do ? Rest, eat and drink.

So for you not to be spiritually exhausted or tired, you should rest in the Lord, eat the food that do not perish and drink spiritual drink, that is, from Christ.

This is the counsel that we heard when we are weary:
Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭11:28‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

So beloved one, seek the rest that the Lord gave.

Also, this counsel that we heard:
“Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you.”
‭‭John‬ ‭6:53‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Beloved one, eat and drink the words that Christ have spoken, that is, the Spirit and the Spirit of God gives life.

Beloved one, you sense that you are not spiritually connected because you have not considered the words that Christ have spoken are Spirit and life. ( John 6:63

Consider this, also:
“My soul clings to the dust;
Revive me according to Your word.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭119:25‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“My soul melts from heaviness;
Strengthen me according to Your word.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭119:28‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“This is my comfort in my affliction,
For Your word has given me life.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭119:50‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

You have dealt well with Your servant, O Lord, according to Your word.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭119:65‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“My soul faints for Your salvation,
But I hope in Your word.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭119:81‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Beloved one, you are bored because you have not heeded what our Heavenly Father have said:
My son, be attentive to my words; incline your ear to my sayings. -Proverbs 4:20
Let them not escape from your sight; keep them within your heart. -Proverbs 4:21

Beloved one, our Heavenly Father did not ask you to be attentive using your physical eyes and ears ; for clearly it is written within your heart. So the eye of our hearts that need to be attentive to His words and the ears of our hearts that need to incline to His sayings.

Why the heart ? Remember what Jesus said to Samaritan woman in John 4, that God is Spirit. For our hearts is spirits. So with our hearts, we commune with God.

Beloved one, meditate His words daily.

Consider and meditate also this:
“Therefore, there is no longer any condemnation awaiting those who are in union with the Messiah Yeshua. Why? Because the Torah of the Spirit, which produces this life in union with Messiah Yeshua, has set me free from the “Torah” of sin and death.”
‭‭Romans (Rom)‬ ‭8:1-2‬ ‭CJB‬‬

“For those who identify with their old nature set their minds on the things of the old nature, but those who identify with the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. Having one’s mind controlled by the old nature is death, but having one’s mind controlled by the Spirit is life and shalom.”
‭‭Romans (Rom)‬ ‭8:5-6‬ ‭CJB‬‬

“clearly you are an epistle of Christ, ministered by us, written not with ink but by the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of flesh, that is, of the heart.”
‭‭II Corinthians‬ ‭3:3‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

And we have such trust through Christ toward God. Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God, who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.”
‭‭II Corinthians‬ ‭3:4-6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Beloved one, I have quoted many verses for you to meditate. So you may not rest not in the wisdom of man but on the power of God

To God be thanksgiving through Christ.Amen

Hello,
I believe the path to salvation is Not an easy path..in saying that, God also promised that " He won't never leave us nor forsaken us"...

I think we must be more open to God in our struggle, I mean tell Him what exactly that we are struggling with and what we wanted Him to do about it...
As it says somewhere " cast all your worries to Him because He cares"...

Seems this happens periodically. Some refer to these times as wilderness experiences, pruning, or valleys. It's not easy but it's one way we become overcomers (Rom 8:37). One purpose is self examination. Sometimes things will be revealed that we need to take care of such as repentance and/or forgiveness of Yahweh, others, and ourselves.. Also, it makes us rely on Yahweh more such as He is our rock (Psa 71:3). We'll realize more about His Word. When doubt comes, we can immediately replace those thoughts with His truth such as My spirit believes Your Word Lord (John 6:63). I trust You and Your Word (Psa 119:42), Your Word is truth (Psa 119:160), I praise You (Psa 119:7).

Also, during these times, some Scriptures will take on deeper meaning such as I Thess 5:18 "In every thing give thanks:.." We"re acknowledging God is good no matter what is going on. These times are not easy and last for varying lengths. Encourage you to just continue to thank Him, hallow His name, read His Word, etc. After this period, one thing for sure the end result will be - you will be even stronger in Him because He promises, He'll draw close to you-

"Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you." James 4

You are not alone in your struggles my friend. Everyone goes through these dry times.

The most important thing is to persevere in prayer. To never give up on God.

Offer up your struggles to God, for others.

Just talk to God. Be patient. God hears you.

God bless you

Welcome to CF. We are connected through His Holy Spirit. Doubting will quench Him, thus your tiredness is reflected. If you have an unwavering faith and your love is pure, He knows . Be not discouraged by the things of this world. Remember the fruits of His Holy Spirit.

Go back to your first Love.

Blessings.

For a variety of reasons, Christians get it into their heads that they must work themselves up into a proper Christian condition; they must strain and strive to maintain, by dint of their own effort and resolve, to be who and what they should be for God; they are the key to what God will do in and through them, their discipline, their institution of spiritual habits, their virtuous labors for Christ. It gets exhausting, frustrating, and awfully burdensome walking in this way with God. Eventually, it becomes impossible.

But God never intended that we should do for Him but that He should do for us. Like begets like: a dog begets a dog, a cat begets a cat, and you can only beget more of you. Only God can beget godliness in you and me. And so, we read in the Bible:

1 Corinthians 1:26-31
26 For consider your calling, brethren, that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble;
27 but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong,
28 and the base things of the world and the despised God has chosen, the things that are not, so that He may nullify the things that are,
29 so that no man may boast before God.
30 But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption,
31 so that, just as it is written, "LET HIM WHO BOASTS, BOAST IN THE LORD."

Philippians 1:6
6 For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.

Philippians 2:13
13 for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.

Philippians 4:13
13 I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.

1 Thessalonians 5:23-24
23 Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
24 Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass.

1 Peter 5:10
10 After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you.

Jude 1:24-25
24 Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to make you stand in the presence of His glory blameless with great joy,
25 to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen.

2 Corinthians 3:17-18
17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.

God is waiting for us to yield ourselves to Him as living sacrifices (Romans 6:13-22; Romans 12:1), humbly submitting to His will and way throughout each day (James 4:7; 1 Peter 5:6; Micah 6:8), and, as we do, He fills us with Himself, with the Spirit, and progressively transforms us, conforming us more and more over time to the image of Christ (Romans 8:29; Galatians 5:22-23).

The battle I fight each day is, at bottom, always over who will reign on the throne of my heart: Self or God. I make the choice between them repeatedly throughout each day by yielding myself either to my "old man" (Romans 6:6), to rebellious, fleshly-minded Self, or to God. It's easy to mistake the battle, however, to mistake where and over what it is being fought. A believer can think the battle is to stamp out sins; but this is to struggle with symptoms rather than their cause, which is Self in charge. The born-again person can think the battle is over their own limited human resources, that they must somehow expand their powers of obedience and love of God, pushing down fleshly desires, stuffing away what they really want to do for the sake of Jesus. All the while the devil is laughing up his sleeve, knowing we are waging war spiritually in the wrong place completely.

As I said, the real battle is over who rules. When we yield ourselves to God's will and way - and do so persistently and consistently, throughout every day - we open our lives to the work of the Spirit, who only fills us with Himself and changes us as we agree through our submission to Him at every turn for Him to do so. But as we do, the Spirit acts upon us, altering what we want, souring us on our favorite sins, giving us new and growing desires for holiness, truth, and fellowship with God, empowering us to live as God created us to do.

The Spirit's changes in us aren't big and blustering, they aren't overt, instantaneous and extreme. Instead, he grows and transforms us after the manner of a branch in the Vine (John 15:4-5), naturally, imperceptibly but constantly, bit by bit bringing us to the place God wants us to be. There isn't, though, in this process, the exhausting, frustrating, self-effort so common to many Christians lives; there isn't the short-lived successes in manufacturing from our human resources the life of the Spirit. There is, instead, an almost effortless divine revamping of us at our core that is lasting, profound and progressive - which is what you'd expect when God Almighty, Maker of Heaven and Earth, bends His infinite power upon us in transformation of our hearts, minds and conduct.

Once submitted, our "job," as Christians is threefold:

Receive by faith the work of the Spirit.
Remain by faith in the Spirit's work.
Reflect in our living the work of the Spirit.

Anyway, just some thoughts on your OP. Hope my comments might help.

What advice do you have?

Many churches present Christianity as a finished package for you to consume. It can seem dry and not quite as advertised.

You may wish to explore Christianity as if you were on a safari. For example if there is a question you have (like election or free will, or do lost people suffer in hell forever), you can learn to use bible tools (like the free esword) to dig into word meanings and research your questions. You might not come to a conclusive answer for your questions, but you can make bible study much more interesting because it is tailored to your interests.

You can also use the Treasury of Scripture Knowledge (included with esword) to follow a chain of verses dealing with a specific topic.

Once you learn how to use the various tools to approach the bible, it makes it much more fascinating to learn what it has top say about various topics.
