• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I was recently put on zyprexa, my second time with this drug. It didn't go that well, made me feel extremely drowsy, kind of drugged. In addition, I felt bog down, and somewhat depressed, disinterested in things, and just wanting to sleep all the time. So I called my pdoc and told him and he said go down to 5mg. I did that..but the problems persisted so I went off it completely.

I've been struggling w/ thoughts of self harm (ie cutting). Feeling kind of all over the place. Not really depressed or fatigued but just generally weird. I don't know what I'm trying to say here. Except I would appreciate your prayers.

Okay. I called my doctor, (advocating for myself so to speak), I told him I hate the zyprexa. He told me to go down to 2.5 mg. Okay, so I didn't tell him the whole truth, but alteast I have permission for 2.5 mg. Well, atleast I'm keeping him in the loop...a little bit.

Hi berry, I think I know what you are feeling, I was on and off Zyprexa for a while. IME, it was best for me to take the lowest possible dose, always just before bed (kinda helped to sleep too) and the side effects went away after a couple of weeks.

Please be careful going off of it cold turkey, I did that and ended up in the hospital, my doc said it's one of those drugs you really should taper off.

I'll be praying for you :crossrc:

Hey Berry,
I also (a week and 1/2 ago) was swicthed to new meds. I have to slowly (this word does not sit well with me) work my way up to a strength that will work for me. My prayer request is also that this med change will be the one that works.

:prayer: Dear Lord, I pray that this new med change will bring Berry to stability. Please help her through the waiting while the meds do "there thing". Thank you that You know exactly where Berry is!

Hey Berry,

Glad to hear your doing a bit better today.

I was doing a bit better also before I made the wrong choice.

Please keep me posted on how your doing. I feel as days go by I'm doing a "bit better" each day till I make a "wrong choice".

Still praying for you Berry! :prayer:

Love From,
Wendy
