  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

About 7th or 8th month, I think. Before that, I was feeling a little smug! :D

Same here. I thought I was going to get by without getting them. But in time they did fade pretty nicely, though it seemed like they were an angry red color for a long time. It couldn't have been that long though, since it was only a year after I gave birth that I got pregnant again. They are still looking pretty good for now, and I'm just over halfway through the pregnancy.

I started getting some on my breasts about 15 weeks into my pregnancy. I think it's because I went from a C to a DD in a very short amount of time. I use lotion but I've been told no matter how much stretch mark cream you use it doesn't work so we'll see. None anywhere else so far.

Well mine didn't make quite that jump in cup sizes, but I definitely got those stretchmarks on my breasts pretty early on too- just the first pregnancy.

On the belly, I'd say it started around 7 months, I was a small build and with short torso the baby only had one direction to go... out... lol. The first pregnancy I had the most appear, after that it was considerably fewer.

Cocoa butter, and vitamin E can help the skin elasticity. They nourish the skin too, and it helps cut down on the itchies in that last month.

For me it was around 8-9 months. However, stretch marks, or the extent to which we will get them is hereditry. Applying creams and massaging the area, helps to keep the skin soft and supple, and keep a good blood supply to the area, but, they will definately not, prevent stretch marks.

I don't have any pregnancy stretchmarks and I didn't do anything particular to avoid them. I do have stretchmarks on my hips from my adolescent spurt, so I don't think there is anything special about my skin. I think the main thing is not to get too big too quickly, but most people don't have a say in whether this happens or not.

With my first, they appeared during the last weeks, got a little more with my second, but with this one, they started appearing around four motnhs and now they're climbing all the way up to my chest- guess that's what I get for being preggo with twins and I still have 21/2 months left!!!!!!

Yeah the twin situation does tend to make stretch marks pretty inevitable. :sigh:

But, just the idea of having two little ones in there... Wow!!

I don't remember-- I have stretch marks everywhere! My breasts, my belly, the backs of my calves, my thighs. I was only 17 when I got pregnant the first time and weighed just over 100 pounds... my body did it's thing- and well I haven't paid much attention since then.

There's a cool line from a song that goes "I've got highways for stretchmarks- see where I've grown" That's how I've always viewed my stretch marks-- they tell the story of my life as a woman, each lesson I have bee taught through the birth of each of my children is etched into my skin.

I didn't get stretch marks until the end of my 2nd pregnancy, and then only under my belly, down low, and only a few. With #3, since I had polyhydramnios (way too much amniotic fluid), my belly got huge and the stretch marks got worse~ but still, only down low, under the belly. They've stayed about the same throughout the rest of my pregnancies... maybe gotten a little wider.

Palmer's Cocoa Butter (unscented) was soooo nice to use on my belly. It helped cut the itch-factor (because scratching them is the Worst thing you can do). Taking Vit.E by mouth (the natural one, not synthetic) is wonderful for the elasticity of the skin. :)

I've had a few from before pregnancy, and they've been getting steadily worse, 6 months now. Mostly on my lower belly though, a few on my hips. Nothing on my breasts yet although they are getting bigger. But from what everyone else says, the worst is probably still to come!

I started getting them on my lower abdomen around 15 weeks...my chest, it was quicker, probably about 12 weeks. I started out with just two or three on my tummy, but now (at only five months!!! :( ) I have about six! I have tried putting stuff on them, but it hasnt really helped.

Six is really mild, cocoa butter can help them not itch as much those last couple months of pregnancy. I can't count mine anymore... my stretch marks have stretch marks... lol

My last few pregnancies haven't added any to speak of, they did extend a couple a tiny bit, but that was it.

On the bright side, they fade down to a light skin tone after time, making them less noticeable.
