Has anyone ever had to quit their job due to stress? How was the stress affecting you and what did you do about it?

Yes. I was a teacher for 20 years, and stress was a major part of my leaving that field as a primary income.
I now do something more physical in nature, and I don't have to really be around a lot of people. This has been a great source of blessing, and I now can see that God's hand was in this transition.

I quit a job after 14 years of doing it.
I got to the point that I was getting physically sick before going to work. Stomach pains and depression. One night - I worked the graveyard shift, which I had volunteered for, six years previous to this night - I just quit without a care in the world. Took a few months off because I could afford to, and found another job. Since that time, I believe I should have left that job years sooner. :sunglasses:

I totally feel you. I literally felt the stress leave my body twice after leaving highly stressful jobs. I thank God for showing me that I needed to leave and why, and I am more grateful for the grace to obey. Although because I love to complete my duties it's hard to have left, but it was what was necessary. It was affecting my health negatively too! Praise God for His mercies and provision!!!

Absolutely. Now years later I would probably approach this in a different manner then I did at the time. The final results would be the same, but, I wouldn't have just quit spontaneously, on a whim. I wasn't a zealous Christian at the time and many aspects of the pulls of the world influenced me more then. Our Almighty God has had much mercy and patience with me and I am always grateful and thankful!

I haven't, but my daughter has.
She was newly diagnossed as type 1 diabetic and was being ' bullied' / cared for / nagged about what she should and shouldn't eat by a colleague.
She doesn't like confrontations so the stress literally made her sick. On our advice she left that job.

What should you do?
If the stress is being caused by a colleague, speak to them or to your boss. That might lessen interpersonal stress.
If it is because of the nature of the job, you might have to accept a pay cut and take a less stressful job.

I had a job where overtime was required & could not be refused. During busy times, we had overtime every day. 10 hr days were tough especially since I also worked 4 hrs at the mall in the evenings. However, I was young & newly married. We were saving all my income for a down payment on a house.
In the end it was worth it cause we got our house. To help with stress, I exercised with roller skating & step aerobics.

I can somewhat relate. I recently quit a job that I found boring- to a point stressful because it wasn't paying my bills. (if that counts). I now have a new job that is paying much more and far less stressful.
