Yes.....it *does* look like she got quite a makeover. Even changing ethnicity. She looks Hawaiian to me now (probably the flower in her hair is giving me that impression).

My wife and I just bought our daughter some strawberry shortcake toys - and she's even lighter now than in the pic you posted. lol

Hmm.So if you are white skinned you need to get a bronzed look and if you are black or dark skinned you need to lighten it up? So is the aim the one perfect color?I always felt pressured to get darker .Deep dark tropical tan even if that meant radiation burns in the sun or a tanning booth putting me at high risk for deadly skin cancer.Now the dark women need to used chemicals to get lighter?When will it end?

Well.....in the commercial (in the Phillipines)........it seems that "every girl deserves the best"....and "best" is defined as a Caucasian man.

As for Orange Blossom.....I don't know why that choice was made She doesn't even look like a little girl any longer. She's all grown up now (besides her ethnic change).

So then why would a caucasian women want to get darker?Wouldn't all the caucasian men (the best) be swarming around her because she is so white?

I noticed too that "ponds" whitening was to help lighten "dark spots" which are relating to age but the model was probably 25 at most..

Well, the old cartoon came on when I was a boy, and I think I would have watched something else. I'm not familiar with the characters. My girls have a version of the new teen or tween-looking Strawberry Shortcake cartoon, with a few episodes. I liked the fact that it tried to teach good manners and being considerate. It seemed to emphasize frivolous stuff like an overemphasis on manicures, though, so that's my one minor concern with it. It seemed a lot better than a lot of other cartoons on TV.

I haven't paid enough attention to know the characters names, except I remember that they are all named after fruit or desserts that contain fruit.

One of our services is Netflix - which has all the old episodes streaming. Kinda funny that I know the characters now due to my daughter (never thought I'd ever know all the characters to Strawberry Shortcake of all things).

But yeah - saw one of the new episodes and was like "Hey, Orange Blossom looks like a Hawaiian girl now"...!

I think kids are an awesome representation on how that kind of stuff is a learned condition.

Our daughter has like...10 "babies" (it's amazing how fast they accumulate.... We've just bought her ones she likes over the past couple of years w/o really keeping track. The other day I collected them all up - and yep - it's around 10) - and they're a variety of different "ethnicities".

She has white babies, black babies, hispanic babies, etc - all of which she simply "couldn't do without" when we were at the store at the given time we bought them. She loves them equally - puts them to "nite nite" the same way - etc.

Only group she seems to be missing is an Asian "baby" - and probably cuz I just haven't seen very many of those at the store.

I get my dollies from Ikea, they're soft bodied and come in caucasian, african-american and asian.

Lol no I'm just joking I know in the black community it's kinda a joke saying what skin complexion is. Like yesterday my friend told me I'm lucky to be dark complexioned and married because Terrance Howard is bring the light complexion brothers back.....my response was you haven't seen django....lol he said drake got Jamie beat.
