Hey, anyone here ever had weird pets, or had experiences with strange animals??

I personally don't think snakes spiders and reptiles are strange, but you can include them

My father was an ACO (animal control officer) growing up, I've touched hawks, held snakes (many different kinds), um... pet coyotes, almost got my finger bitten off by a snapping turtle(instead it bit my father's house key in half, not kidding.), had a pet ferret, red-eared sliders, an iguana, and, oh! I had a pet tarantula, also.

I've had experiences with many other animals, but I guess this is all for now! ^_^

when i was a camp counselor, i held a hedgehog, chinchilla, pet prairie dogs, held a milk snake (a baby one....anything bigger just creeps me out) pet a monkey when i was in bolivia, and that's about it. i almost forgot. my friend and i were at a carnival, and they had a spot where you could hold a baby tiger and get your picture taken. i help it while she fed it the bottle. very cute little cub he was:)

This probably isn't "weird" but the little cat next door only has three legs. She's so gorgeous, especially when she's hopping about trying to catch butterflies. I've never seen a three-legged cat in real life and I think she's adorable!

EDIT: Come to think of it, my sister used to keep cockroaches in tupperware containers under her bed with a bit of grass when she was little. They used to die in there because there was no air and needless to say, Mum wasn't too impressed to find her favourite tupperware full of cockroaches!

When I lived in Wyoming about 8-9 years old,I would keep those huge black & yellow grasshoppers as pets. One at a time. I would tie a string around their neck and keep them in my window between the screen and the glass and pick grass & leaves and such for them, and they loved potato chips! Once I took my pet with me when I had to go get my smallpox vacination and I asked the nurse if she would vaccinate my grasshopper so he wouldn't get smallpox either and she put a drop of the serum on his side,LOL! Unfortunately, now and then my grasshopper would try to fly too vigorously and it's head would pop off and I would have to go catch a replacement. I know that's awful, funny how I never thought much about it at the time, must have been a cold-hearted kid.

A relatively new form of pet here in Oz is a miniture pig. Ive seen them advertised in the local paper, do you have them in the States ? I thought they might come from there, as most of the new breeds of pets often do. I would love a tamed wild cat but they are a definate no no here.

We had some bearded dragons in our back yard (sorry cant post pics here)

and our friends have blue tongue lizzards but they are common here.

I love exotics, but I can't handle snakes & spiders. My husband is arachnaphobic, so they're a definate no no in our household. I do like snakes, but I can't do the feeding of small animals, since I have small pets.

I've got two sugar gliders right now, which isn't odd here in TX, but it's kind of wierd to be watching Animal Planet and see them talking about sugar gliders in the wild. I also have a map turtle that I've had for about 13 years now, but she stays at my parents house until I can convinve my dad to give her back (he loves the turtle). I've also done animal rehab, almost all birds. I've had mammals (two squirrels, a possum and a raccon) at one point, but I'm not getting another rabies vaccination again, so I can't do them anymore.

While I was married to my kid's dad . . .he was a critter freak and stil is this day, we had all kinds of varments. My two most memorable were the baby rattle snake and tarantula he had in the same aquarium. He would let them crawl around our living room and I would just shudder with the heebie jeebies every time I saw that tarantula move its hairy legs. That little baby rattle snake was mean!!!

When I first met him he had "pet" black widows in a jar on his dresser. I should'a known something was up with him right away eh? LOL
