  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I started working this moderin fantasy story that stars a girl in her mid 20s, I love some of the Charaters around her (I Love the bad guy the most, I mainly writing it down just so I could have something with him in it) but she just not intersting and I relize I have not work on her much, She needs more charate tarits that will make her more intersting. I am also not sure ware the plot is going, but I have get a intersting story done by next mounth (or least have it all planed out) I have the basic Idea of the story But I am not sure how to end it or if its any good.

I find the easiest way to write isn't always necessarily to follow a set guideline or plan out the story, but to just write. Let the story develop as you go.

As for the problems with your main character -- if you can't seem to develop her, I'd say start over, and start adding things to her. To write the main character (as well as any other character) you need to be able to get inside that characters head and their entire being. you need to be able to know that character as well as yourself. If you can't develop that by just writing, then what I like to do is sit down, and write out first the physical description of the character, and then I sit down and write out their personality characteristics. If that doesn't work, then I do a first-person exercise with them.

For the first-person exercise, think of a situation (any situtation you want) and write it from the character's perspective. Write the way they would be thinking, feeling, what their reactions would be, what they would say, all of that. Just keep doing that until the character becomes real enough to you that you would be able to write her into the story :)

When I write I don't have anything planed out, I just sit down and write. I look at my characters as real people, someone who has real feelings, someone who would be angry if I went out of their character for the better if the story. Try this: Get out of your normal writing place. Example: Go sit in a busy park, or coffee shop, let the people there inspire you. I recomend looking very hard at you main character to see what made you write her in the first place. Good luck!
