Stories about songs

I guess many people have one or more songs that are special to them for some reason, so I started this topic so that we can share those reasons with each other. So - I'll start.

When I was about 15 or so, I was staying at a friend's house over the weekend. Even though I was raised in a Christian home, we never listened to a lot of contemporary Christian music at home, so at that time I only knew names of a few bands, but nothing about their music. However, this friend I was staying with had a lot of interesting Christian music in her collection. So we were sitting in her room talking and listening to some music. I must admit that she was a bit more "modern" than me in her music tastes, so I was not too impressed...at least not until she suddenly said that "you have to listen to this one - you'll like it!"

So, I sat down to listen to it...it was Petra's "Beyond Belief" album on tape. When she started the tape, it started at the last track, called "Prayer". And I must say that there was something really special about that song. When it finished, I asked if we could rewind and hear it again, and I think we listened to it about 5 times before we listened to the rest of the album. That song is still very special for me - it has wonderful, strong lyrics and wonderful melody.

So, that's the story about my favorite Christian song. Do you have something to share, too?

When i first started to play the Piano, i couldn't play a thing! Because i taght myself the piano, it was quite hard in reading music and playing. The first worship song i ever learnt on the Piano is "Shine, Jesus Shine" so this song is quite special to me.

"My redeemer lives" is also a special song to me because it is the first song i ever -played in front of the youth at my church during worship.

Shout To The North - the pioneer song for our youth ministry and band! When we began three years ago we'd sing this song every week!
King of Glory - first song that I have co-ordinated for the church band to play as an item on Easter Sunday this year.
URY - first song I really learnt to play on guitar (gosh that was nearly ten years ago!)

You Alone Are Worthy - this is a song I have written, and it's the first original song in our church to have stayed on the list. Not my fave but my music director likes it heaps so she used it...
