  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I'm starting graduate school in the fall and yeah I was all for it but now I just don't want to go.

After reading a few articles and talking to some people I don't understand how professors expect you to know it all when you don't know it all. Yeah I know it's a burdern on them when you need help but how else are people suppost to learn? I can't figure everything out by myself.

For example one of my classes has a quiz day one and I don't even know what it's on and can't ask what it's on because I'm expected to know what it covers. Yeah right. Where does one get the skill to mind read?

I thought it was about going and learning how to do things in your field. Not that I should know it all already and graduate school should be a refresher course.

Sorry this is kind of a rant thing but if anyone is in graduate school or whatever any tips?

What are you studying?

And can you talk to your advisor?

Psychology.

Yes I have talked with my advisor but I'm expected to know everything and I just don't. I'm like a deer lost in the headlights.

I guess I'm use to some sort of a direction and I can't even make my own direction because I don't even what I should do to make my own direction.

I've been reading a bunch of things online about graduate school and what to do and not do but like I said I'm lost as to what I'm suppost to be doing.

I know what I do in the program but I don't understand how students are suppose to learn if no one will help you.

Can you talk to other students, then? If there really is a lack of communication, then they should be confused, too, and as a group you can approach your professors. If they're not confused, then you can ask them for help. :)

I hope I can.

There is suppost to be some mentor people wondering around or something for new students so we'll see.

I just hope I'm not the only one who's lost and confused.
