Suggestions? Sure! 5 drummers, 2 oboes, 2 analog synthesizers, and 6 octaves of chromatically-tuned garden gnomes. :p

Perhaps if you told us a bit more about your proposed band, your style of music, etc. we could be a little more helpful...

Ok... All you need are drums, bass, guitar (electric, at least one), and vocals. If you want to add other instruments, go for it. Beyond that? It's punk rock, just play and have fun.

hey everybody! im Thinkin' of starting a band. Any suggestions?????? thanks a bunch!:D

MOST IMPORTANT!!!

Make sure all of the people in the band have the same goals. More bands break up or keep going through members because of this.

Find out what everyone wants to accomplish first:

Christian/ministry, Christian/secular, secular.
Is it just for fun?
To get a record deal?
How much time will be dedicated to practice?
Style of music.
etc., etc., etc...

If you're all not on the same page, there's just too much drama!

if you want punk rock all you need like before stated is a guitarist a bassist a drummer and a singer I suggest that you make sure everyone is commited my first band broke up because of one of the memebers not wanting to ever practice.

Do you have a front person,a lead person that can designate things? I've been through about 3 bands with 'friends' that just wanted to dink around all the time.
Working with perfect strangers(hey isn't that a song by deep purple?) has been the best thing yet.I have no added help for you with it being punk-christian rock though.Really aren't going to need much guitar talent there.

Also, ala dictionary.com, punk rock
n.

A form of hard-driving rock 'n' roll originating in the 1970s, characterized by harsh lyrics attacking conventional society and popular culture, and often expressing alienation and anger.I'm pretty sure you can't use harsh lyrics attacking people and be a christian band and you can't be a punk rock band without harsh lyrics. Looks like you gotta choose.

punk, christian rock. grab a great drummer, get yourself a really good singer, find a bass player, a great lead player, and get a rythym guitar in there too. start with already known songs....so the band can get to know each others music abilities/styles....etc. then see if any of you are good at composing. if you are, get in there and write yourselves some lyrics!! then get one of you, or maybe someone else, to chuck in a tune!! if you think you sound pretty good, check out some local places and organise to perform there!! if you can find one, get a keyboard player. it really really adds to them softer, more....powerful music. you could have, if you want, back-up singers, or about 2 or 3 that sing at different/same times. GOOD LUCK!!

hope this helps!!
