LT is pretty annoying, because it's overused. Money maps are also annoying. I'm a terran player, but I do occasionally play the other races. But terran is the best

Woohoo! I'm Terran, too. I think we're a minority, though! You're right-LT is overused. And although it's a balanced map, it gets old. I think money maps are about the fun of making lots of heavy metal and just enjoying the fun of destroying them all. I don't use them. I'm not a very good mapmaker yet, though.

Terran is my favorite. I absolutely hate the zerg, but I like the Protoss too. I'm not very good at any of them though lol

Yeah, I hear ya Whitehorse. Starcraft's Editor is actually pretty simple to make maps with, but Warcraft's? Man, I have fits with that.

I'd like to create a role playing diablo-like game with it, but the triggers and such are just too complicated for me. I'm trying to create a map that my dad and a few friends can play on, probably a 4 player, filled with quests, rewards, creeps and the such. I think it'd be a lot of fun, but unfortanately I just don't have the time or knowledge to make it.

If my computer will stop freezing up everytime I try to start up a game, I'd love to play also. Or I might have to buy a new computer. Just keep this thread active where I can check back at a later time. I bet I could get a couple friends in on it too.

Bowser, you're right-the SC editor isn't hard to operate; it's just coming up with a map that's both balanced and interesting. But for some reason we can't get the heroes to talk on the editor. Not important, just an annoying quirk. I like working the environment into the strategy, the ones I think people will use, elevated areas around the base openings to put tanks on, etc. But it's hard making it balanced that way without making it boring-all the same for every resource area. Are you a heavy metal fan? Do you use nukes?

I usually only use nukes when I have to. It's like an end game solution. The only time I'll use nukes a lot is if I'm messing around and playing with friends.

I used to absolutely love playing the different types of games; like melee, capture the flag, and etc; we had a ton of fun using those. Maybe we could conjure up something like that...

I've tried to make a map like that before; and you're right, it does require a lot of thought and time; you can't just make one the first time. How many players will be on yours? What tilesetting are you using?

I actually haven't made a map for a while. I do have my SC cd with me, but I'm on this linux contraption and I can't play on it. My Brood War is in storage.

But usually I try for about, maybe four-six players. The melees are wild. I love those. They're usually over pretty quick, though!

I don't use nukes much, either-they take so much time to build and they're expensive. If the ghost gets taken out, which with a single tank in seige mode or a sci vessel he will be, that's a lot of time and a lot of resources while the next guy has cranked out six tanks from each factory he has. But I like to have a couple just to get rid of defense systems on the off-chance their handy. Not very efficient, but I play just for fun. But what game lasts that long unless it's a money map just to goof around on.

Oh man, I have the perfect set up for that. It's still complicated, but worth it if you're going to nuke anyway. What you do is build one nuke and take two ghosts with you into the enemy's territory. Cloak them both and put one just in front of their defenses - this one will be a decoy. Put the other just out of site of the first ghost and kind of off the main path - this will be the real nuker. They'll usually detect the decoy and kill it, and after they do that they rarely think there'll be another one...bam, you just busted through their defenses. This is actually a pretty noobish way to break in, most real cons don't fall for it, but it's still a pretty good strat. I love to pull that on my dad - he's like 'holy stuff! what just happened? Hacker!'

An even better way is to build two nukes and launch them both at the same locations at the exact same time. This way, the enemy thinks there's just one. So, even if he does kill a ghost with a nuke, you still have another one he's not suspecting.
