  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

"Rogue One." On a scale of 1 to 7, with "Phantom Menace" as 1 and "Empire Strikes Back" as 7, this movie was 9. Maybe 10 or 11, depending on the next couple of movies.

The. Best. Star. Wars. Yet.

It's "Guns of Navarone" good.

This movie is the prequel that should have been. It actually blends seamlessly with "A New Hope," and begs another viewing of "A New Hope" as soon as possible. If you've got "A New Hope" on disc, have it in the player and ready to spin as soon as you get back from "Rogue One."

The new Star Wars Saga viewing sequence:

Rogue One
A New Hope
Empire Strikes Back
Attack of the Clones
Revenge of the Sith
Return of the Jedi.

Although there are a couple of extremely obscure references back to the Disney "Star Wars Rebels" series and Bail Organa from the prequels, all other references are characters you first saw in "A New Hope," courtesy CGI, dialogue, and re-used quick scenes.

Same sequence I always proposed. Though, I liked the prequels (not as much as the originals; but) and would still stick TPM between Empire and Clones. I think Qui-Gon really is that important (and, even Jar-Jar I believe is pretty important to the story). Without Qui-Gon there are a lot of missing thread connection so the over-arching story isn't as, connected. Actually without Shmi a lot of it loses depth. TPM is pretty important. I can understand the people who don't like it, but removing it from the series does change it quite a bit, causing a loss of cohesion.

Anyway, looking forward to Rogue One.

It was much more a human movie than any of the others. The other movies were about "men born to be great." Special people. These are people who became great because they had no other choice.

When histories are written, the generals get the ink: MacArthur, Eisenhower, Patton, Kenobi, Skywalker.

But the soldiers who were on the ground know who the real heroes were, and not many of them ever become known. In that way, this was a lot like Saving Private Ryan. "We did this for you--now earn it."
