I hope it's better than their mmorpg looks. A stars wars game, and you can't be a jedi, stormtrooper, or rebel trooper... But you can sell jawa beef jerkey as a level 10 short-order cook! It's TheSims meets STAR WARS: The soap opera saga continues! LOL!

And you would rather have the monotonous level grinds slash no content of all the other MMORPGs?

I haven't played SWG, but from what I hear from former clanmates, it rocks. That's the beauty of it, you can be a short-order cook, or a doctor, or whatever, and have total fun with it. GOOD MMORPGs allow you to be a social butterfly but also allow you to do other things as well--the former, being the key.

Of course, I could go on and on and on about how developers are pushing games out way to early and rely on "Live Teams" to come up with the content and how that, in the end, is detrimental to a game (read: AC2), but I won't...I understand top-level, big business mechanics--I work in an Enterprise...

Anyway, I have Jedi Academy installed...I just haven't played it...been stuck on getting VietCong done...:)

By all means, leave the cooks in for whoever likes them, I was just commenting that it's a bit of a let-down that you can't even play as a stormtrooper or jedi if you wanted too.

I'd agree. But, ya know, you can...it just takes a long time to become a Jedi. It ACTUALLY takes work.

See, I'm glad they decided to make it almost impossible to become a Jedi, but it CAN be done. They just say that it will take a really long time...and it should.

I'm SO sick and tired of power hungry powergamers who in one months time of a game being released, they're already at level 50 and then they all whine and complain because, "there's nothing to do"...

I say kudos to SWG...

I just picked up Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast. It's great! I can easily spend too much time on it.

I did have an adjustment switching to a KB and mouse control rather than a joystick or gamepad. It does work best for this game though some getting used to is in order.

I expect the same will be true for Academy. I plan on getting it when the price drops a little. $50 is a little much for a game on my budget. (I got Outcast for $20)

I haven't played any of the SW FPS games. How easy is it to wield the lightsaber effectively? What controls do you use (I play strictly keyboard/mouse - WASD - in FPSers)
The Lightsaber's very well done, actually. I play WASD, too, and I've never had problems, even in the original Jedi Knight.

I haven't played Academy yet, but I'm almost done with Jedi Outcast. I love it... I'm just running through the swamps picking up Stormtroopers with the Force and throwing them over my shoulder. *cackle* I love it.

no jkja is not better thatn outcast
its just more of the same
the lightsaber is a bit more enhanced but the special combo attacks are sometimes just too annoying to pull off
early on in the game is relatively boring
the game is too easy comparied to the last one
which was easy itself

the last bad guy in the game is so easy to beat its hilarious why he was such a threat

making kyle katarn a 2ndary character was a bad move
now you play joe jedi with no interesting backstory
and what little there is; isnt developed at all
what about him making his lightsaber beforehand?! hmmmm

as for the bad guys
you can fight them if you want
but it gets really boring later on that all you do is force grip and toss off cliff, or toss into lava pit (which is pretty much every enemy in the last level)

OK, I hope I'm not derailing this thread, hehe...

I just got SWG for Christmas. Is it worth the $15/month, BA? Also, my modem connects at 28.8Kbps, on average. Would that drag me down? Thanks.
