I know this has nothing to do with Anglicanism.... but I want to ask.
Anyone else a Star Wars/Trek Fan?
Anyone else a Star Wars/Trek Fan?

The Lord be with you.
And also with you.
Lift up your hearts.
We lift them to the Lord.
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
It is right to give him thanks and praise.
God of all power, Ruler of the Universe, you are worthy of
glory and praise.
Glory to you for ever and ever.
At your command all things came to be: the vast expanse of
interstellar space, galaxies, suns, the planets in their courses,
and this fragile earth, our island home.
By your will they were created and have their being.
From the primal elements you brought forth the human race,
and blessed us with memory, reason, and skill. You made us
the rulers of creation. But we turned against you, and betrayed
your trust; and we turned against one another.
Have mercy, Lord, for we are sinners in your sight.
Again and again, you called us to return. Through prophets
and sages you revealed your righteous Law. And in the
fullness of time you sent your only Son, born of a woman, to
fulfill your Law, to open for us the way of freedom and peace.
By his blood, he reconciled us.
By his wounds, we are healed.
And therefore we praise you, joining with the heavenly
chorus, with prophets, apostles, and martyrs, and with all
those in every generation who have looked to you in hope, to
proclaim with them your glory, in their unending hymn:
Well, I was raised on the old Star Trek, with William Shatner. Never really got into the newer versions, must have been too busy studying at Uni during that era.Colabomb said:Anyone else a Star Wars/Trek Fan?

(I laugh, because I didn't study that much).
My son (aged 7) is a really big Star Wars fan. At the last birthday party he went to, it was a costume party ("fancy dress" is what the Brits call it). My son went as Darth Sidius (don't know if I spelled that right).
Fish and Bread said:I'm definitely a Star Trek fan. I watch all the television shows and movies (Okay, I own all the movies) and read a lot of the books. I draw the line at costumes, though.
I don't know if that disqualifies me as an official Trekker or not.
Anyone else excited about the new Star Trek movie they're working on? I hear it's preliminarily set to come out in 2008 and feature a young Kirk and a young Spock (Played by new actors, of course).
I've seen the Star Wars films a couple times, but I can't really say I'm a fan. I really only liked about half of the movies. I still can't watched "A New Hope" without forwarding through the boring desert scenes at the beginning or "Return of the Jedi" without forwarding through anything involving an Ewok (Yes, I know that's about half the movie!). On the other hand, it's an interesting universe and "The Empire Strikes Back" was a great piece of cinema. The new trilogy was okay. It's good popcorny fun, but I can't say it really captures my imagination the way that Star Trek does.
Lol, you pulled that one out in a thread one time when I made a Q analogy.PaladinValer said:![]()

My wife and friends call me a Trekkie, but I don't dress up or go to conventions (mostly because there are no conventions that come here).

Fish and Bread said:Any romance scene involving Natalie Portman=good.![]()
.Oh man, I just love Denny Crane! And Alan Shore too! What a great show.PaladinValer said:An old online aquaintance photoshopped that for me (yes, that's me there), but if you really want it, PM me your email and I'll be happy to give you a copy
Edit: Episodes I-III didn't bother me. Yeah, they were a little weaker, but to be honest, I thought they were still exceptional. And as for TNG, dude, that is the Star Trek I grew up with.
Now if you really want to anger people, you should say something (and mean something) like this: The Original Series was just plain awful trash. The OS movies were excellent, but not the actual TV series. Shatner is a far better Denny Crain than he was Admiral/Captain Kirk in the TV show (though an excellent Kirk in the movies).
