MOVIEGUIDE® AWARDS ANNOUNCES HOSTS & TALENT FOR 2004 AWARDS SHOW ON MARCH 24TH

“Entertainment Tonight” weekend anchor, former Miss America, and top Christian singer announced as participants

For Immediate Release

LOS ANGELES, CA (ANS) -- “Entertainment Tonight” weekend anchor Mark Steines and his wife, television personality and former Miss America Leanza Cornett, have been named hosts of this year’s televised Movieguide Awards, to be presented March 24th in Los Angeles.

Grammy Award-winning singer Rebecca St. James has been announced as the first musical artist set to perform on the Movieguide Awards. Additional performers will be announced later.

Steines is in his ninth year at “Entertainment Tonight,” the most watched entertainment newsmagazine in the world.

A two-time Emmy Award winner with four nominations, he has taken home Emmys for his reporting on KCAL for both “Beyond Endurance—Madagascar” in 1994 and “Beyond Endurance—Borneo” in 1995.

He is also the recipient of the Golden Mic Award and the National Iris Award for television journalism.

Celebrity coverage that has won him national recognition includes features on Michael Jordan, Muhammed Ali, Cher, Madonna, and Princess Diana.

As an actor, his credits include HBO’s “Weapons of Mass Destruction,” “Dave’s World,” and “Suddenly Susan.” During the 2001-2002 season, Steines also made a guest starring appearance on ABC’s top rated series “The Practice.”

Cornett, a former Miss Florida, was crowned Miss America in 1992.

Following her reign, she launched a successful television career hosting national programming such as “Entertainment Tonight,” NBC’s “Weekend Today,” Lifetime’s “New Attitudes,” the Miss America Pageant, and most recently the Fine Living Network’s consumer affairs show, “Tricks of the Trade.”

Ms. Cornett is a gifted actress with both extensive television and theater credits.

Amid international success that has driven her record sales into the millions, Australian-born Grammy winner Rebecca St. James is no stranger to the national spotlight.

Her edgy, controversial project “Pray” won a Grammy as best “Rock Christian Album” of 1999. In recent weeks, St. James has been a guest speaker at the White House, received a 2004 Dove Award nomination for Best Female Artist, and was in New York for television guest appearances that included “Fox News Magazine,” “Hannity and Colmes,” and “Fox & Friends,” as well as guesting on Sean Hannity’s ABC Radio Network program.

Typically seeing more than 800,000 fans at nearly 150 concerts each year, Rebecca St. James launched a national tour with the rock group Newsboys on February 12th. The 35-city tour has been producing consistent sellouts since its launch.

Commented Susan Wales, media representative for The Christian Film & Television Commission: “Dr. Baehr and everyone associated with the 2004 presentation of the Movieguide® Awards are very pleased to have celebrities of this caliber participate in our telecast.

"Each of them, on a national level, has represented Christian and family values that uphold the same strong guidelines we ascribe to.”

The Christian Film & Television Commission ministry, founded in 1978 by educator, publisher, producer, and media scholar Dr. Ted Baehr, devotes itself to redeeming the values of the entertainment industry according to biblical principles.

In this, its 12th year, the Movieguide Awards continues to present an symbol of excellence and merit to the films, television productions, producers, directors, writers, studio executives and creative talent that best extol moral values and Christian principles while in the pursuit of entertainment.

This year’s Movieguide® Awards are the centerpiece of the 12th Annual Faith & Values Awards Gala and Report to Hollywood, presented by the Christian Film & Television Commission.

The March 24th event will be held at the Regent Beverly Wilshire in Beverly Hills. It will be taped for later telecast on PAX TV.

This is great! I know Leanza from high school, she is a very sweet and talented person, and has a wonderful family. Her husband is nice too, we got to meet him when he and Leanza performed "Barefoot in the Park" at one of our local theaters a few years ago.

I'll definitely be watching!
