I was thinking about that book last night and I realized something, correct me if I am wrong about this... I scanned thru the book to make sure but I couldnt find anything. Jesus has been scourged, spit upon, beaten, etc etc and he was crucified. And he rose again, beating death.... it occurred to me that he might not have been made whole again, physically. All marred and such, he must have been quite a sight. Chapter 28:17, "And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted." There would be no doubt if he was made whole again, physically, hence recognizable. What do you think?

God bless. =)

Hi KJ :)
I think the only reason some "doubted" is because you don't normally see people who have just died walking around. It sounds like I'm being sarcastic but I'm not. For example, if one of your family members die and you see him or her walking around in a grocery store the next day, you would "doubt" said fact as well, even if they looked EXACTLY like they used to.

Hiya UMP =)

I have considered that too; but it does seem unlikely in this case, cuz he was with his disciplines, who knew him well and all of them, if I remember correctly, fled from him when he got caught and arrested, prior to crucifixation. They did not see how he got marred, did they? It wasnt said specifically in the bible if he was whole again, its just left up to our imaginations, I think. lol

There was unbelief on the Apostles part (shock might be a logical explanation) and Jesus was not whole, as being completely healed, but not dripping blood either. Here are some passages that give us a flavor of what the Apostles thought, saw, and did.

Luke 24:36-40 ¶ And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.
37 But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit.
38 And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts?
39 Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.
40 And when he had thus spoken, he shewed them his hands and his feet.
John 20:20 When He had said this, He showed them His hands and His side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord.
John 20:24 But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.
John 20:25 The other disciples therefore said to him, "We have seen the Lord." So he said to them, "Unless I see in His hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe."
John 20:26 ¶ And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.
Joh 20:27 Then He said to Thomas, "Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach your hand here, and put it into My side. Do not be unbelieving, but believing."
