• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Any one benefit from vitamins? I have been drinking vitamin protein drinks and they seem to help me ecspecially since I have a tough time getting 2000 calories a day.
Also Anyone take, or have taken ST. johns Wort, if so please post your experience.

 HI Daryl  ,

Vitamins are very important for people in general...even more important for those struggling with a disease!

Regarding St. Johns Wort, as much as I wanted to take something "herbal" for my depression...they were NOT enough! It is actually recommended by Naturalists that St. Johns Wort be taken by those with mild depression.

Hi! I tried St. John's Wort and it just made me real nervous. I agree that it is also for mild depression. I don't know that there are any studies out there that show it is a good remedy for depression. There may be some, though, I just don't know of them.

This site is a blessing. I have bad depression that requires meds. I have to say it was a very hard decision for me to go on meds. but my counsellor and my Doc really helped me and yes i do have my downs but i am not as depressed as i was before.
