  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

There are several issues I wanted to highlight about the St. Hilda's school issue.

NSCC says sacking of St Hilda’s head girl breached child rights

The National Secondary Students’ Council (NSSC) says it is “appalled and concerned” at the decision by St Hilda’s High School to rescind the appointment of the institution’s head girl due to her ‘purported’ religious beliefs.

Child Rights

The United Nations is the main proponent of child's rights. Please note the following:

UK and Saudi Arabia 'in secret deal' over human rights council place

Britain conducted secret vote-trading deals with Saudi Arabia to ensure both states were elected to the UN human rights council (UNHRC), according to leaked diplomatic cables.

The elevation of the Saudi kingdom to one of the UN’s most influential bodies in 2013 prompted fresh international criticism of its human rights record.

This week, a new diplomatic row has erupted over a Shia activist, Ali Mohammed al-Nimr, who faces death by crucifixion after being convicted at the age of 17 of joining an anti-government demonstration.

China granted seat on UN's human rights council (2013)

China has been granted a seat on the UN's human rights council despite its long record of refusing inspections by international human rights monitors.

On Tuesday, the UN general assembly filled 14 vacant seats on the 47-member council for a three-year period beginning on 1 January of next year. Russia, Saudi Arabia and Cuba were elected as well, despite their controversial human rights records.

‘UN on the side of dictatorships, not freedom’ (2015)

The fact the UN let Saudi Arabia host a summit on human rights indicates that the organization supports violence and disregards the human rights of the Saudi people who are being abused and tortured, Gulf analyst Ali Al-Ahmed told RT.

Dictators score major victory at UN Human Rights Council (2012)

It is a good day for intolerant rulers like Hugo Chavez and Nursultan Nazarbayev, as seven countries with particularly appalling human rights records were elected to the United Nations Human Rights Council: Ethiopia, Gabon, Ivory Coast, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates and Venezuela.

The whole issue of human rights is a farce. The term human rights sounds genuine and legitimate, but in practice it is actually none of those. Students worldwide have been indoctrinated to believe that the United Nations is a source for good. This is not true at all. How much schools talk about dictators being apart of the UN Human Rights Council? How much news articles in Jamaica talks about this? How much church leaders talk about this? How much non religious persons talk about this in Jamaica? What about UN troops involved in human trafficking?

Students have also been indoctrinated to believe that Barack Obama is a force for good. This is not true at all. Christians in America have been severely persecuted more than ever under his administration. Please also note the following:

Obama Political Staff Overruled Human Rights Experts On Slavery Report

- Top diplomats at the State Department repeatedly overruled human rights experts in the crafting of a recent report on human trafficking, Reuters reported Monday night, elevating concerns that the Obama administration compromised a key diplomatic tool to advance other political goals.

Lawmakers from President Barack Obama's own party had previously pilloried the administration's official Trafficking In Persons report, which is used to shame governments that support or tolerate modern-day slavery. Experts say the report has successfully been used in the past to improve worker protections abroad. But in July, the administration upgraded several nations -- including Malaysia, Cuba and Saudi Arabia -- that independent human rights experts said had done little to improve their human trafficking status.

How much news articles, commentary in Jamaica mentions the above? What about students in Jamaica are you aware of this? What about youths who cheered him when he was in Jamaica? Do you care?

Human rights as I have stated elsewhere was taken from the 1936 Russian communist constitution. It was not made to protect "person's so called rights". It was created to give the appearance that persons would be treated more equally, but in reality it strips away every single ability for persons to be treated properly.

There have been many instances in the U.S, Canada and the U.K where Christians have lost jobs, positions for their beliefs. So for persons to make it appear, as if the proponents of human rights, treat everyone equally is absolutely dishonest.

Public Defender All Religions Are Not Equal As You Have Said. Do any religious group say who they worship is equal to other gods? Who came up with this, non religious persons? I am a Christian and there is only one God who sent his only son Jesus Christ to die for our sins. Christianity is not equal to other religions.

I also must mention the fact that Christians in countries that are mainly non Christian, whether of another religion, or lack thereof, persecute Christians severely.

Christians: The world's most persecuted people

One woman, at least, is safe. Throughout much of her pregnancy, she had been in prison in Khartoum, capital of the Republic Sudan, living with the dread expectation that she would be hanged once her baby was born. Her crime was that she had married a Christian and been accused by the authorities of apostasy, renouncing her faith, even though she maintained she had never been a Muslim in the first place
