  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

The more quotes I read by him, the more I grow closer to him, and God. I have an uncanny connection with this man, in what he says. Here are just a few of the quotes that I have read that have spoken so directly and gently to my heart:

"Do not lose courage in considering your own imperfections, but instantly set about remedying them."

"How displeasing to God are rash judgments!"

"Never be in a hurry; do everything quietly and in a calm spirit. Do not lose your inner peace for anything whatsoever, even if your whole world seems upset."

"Let us run to Mary, and, as her little children, cast ourselves into her arms with a perfect confidence."

"It is to those who have the most need of us that we ought to show our love more especially."

"We must fear God out of love, not love Him out of fear."

"True progress quietly and persistently moves along without notice."

"As often as you can during the day, recall your mind to the presence of God... Consider what God is doing, what you are doing. You will always find God's eyes fixed on you in unchangeable love."

"When you encounter difficulties and contradictions, do not try to break them, but bend them with gentleness and time."

"We are not drawn to God by iron chains, but by sweet attractions and holy inspirations."

"The highest degree of meekness consists in seeing, serving, honoring, and treating amiably, on occasion, those who are not to our taste, and who show themselves unfriendly, ungrateful, and troublesome to us."

"Make yourself familiar with the angels, and behold them frequently in spirit; for without being seen, they are present with you."

"Consider all the past as nothing, and say, like David: Now I begin to love my God."

“Do not distress yourself about your prayers. It is not always necessary to employ words, even inwardly, it is enough to raise your heart and let it rest in our Lord, to look lovingly up toward this divine Lover of our souls for between lovers the eyes speak more eloquently than the tongue.”

If anyone has one to add, please add it! I like to share about him. The funny thing is, I didn't even know he was this huge Doctor of the Church until I read a profile of his more carefully. I thought he was just your average saint(if one can say such a thing ;) ). It would have pleased me just as well, had he been no more than a simple saint. However, by some unseen way of things, I always seem to be drawn to the great ones. Oh well, thanks for sharing with me. I hope for all of us to learn some more about him. Thanks :)
