I know how you're feeling Xenia, but I know what you're saying. Isn't just wonderful that even if something is not exactly perfect, God still helps us to deal with it.Khaleas said:I don't know about anyone else but I feel becoming Orthodox has made me a much calmer person. Yes, I was upset last night but it was more because I just don't want to keep stressing but rather just go on with other things...
Photini said:My son loves orange juice. He can take down a half gallon in a matter of 3 days or so by himself. It's funny, because when I was pregnant with him, I craved orange juice like you wouldn't believe. I still crave an ice cold orange julius every once in a while.
It's kind of the same with my daughter. She loves milk. Just plain white milk, not chocolate, just good ol' milk. That's what I craved with her too....and I HATE milk. I had to drink it with ice so it had less of the milky taste to it. But I felt like I would go insane if I didn't get my milk.
Khaleas said:Aria,
you're probably a better seamstress than I am! I used to sew most of my clothes but it's been like 10 years I sewed anything more than straight seams.
The good news is tho, I was able to get to the store and they still had the dress and since the train is fairly long the seamstress said she can lift it a bit, get some fabric off of there and make the inserts needed to make the current one my size. It's not white white, but it's going to have to do... and I'm just not letting it bother me. My husband has a white white uniform so that's why I wanted the white white dress. It's a cool (not yellowish) off white so I don't think it'll look weird... And if all else fails, there is always Photoshop LOL! I sure hope that was the highest stress my wedding will have. I refuse to make it high stress.
There was this guy in the store with his fiancee and apparently there was a stain on her dress (their wedding isn't for a year) and the company offered to clean it and he was screaming from the top of his lungs at the lady that they don't trust them anymore and he's going to sue and this that and the other... calling her every name in the book. Talk about Groomzilla!

Kolya said:Now you're onto something!
It's what the little critters want that cause the cravings
Never thought about it that way before.

Aria said:My dress was made of champaigne white because that was the only decent eyelet.
My husband wore a cream Tuxedo. So the professional photographer adjusted the colors and my dress looks white. My mother had a fit because I wasn't wearing white white as a virgin should, but what can you do if the fabric bolts have defects (sewn seams joining two pieces together so that I didn't have enough to make the dress without a horrible seam running down the middle.) I cannot handle the hot polyester fabrics as that gives me the hives and that was the only other choice.
I'm so glad that you will able to get the dress adjusted. Having a long train can be a problem, so with it a little shorter it will be more manageable. That is why I had the train on my veil and not on my dress.
Matrona said:Also, how much train is the finished dress going to have? A long train is beautiful during the wedding, but it makes the dress heavy and it feels even heavier once you bustle it.

LOL
Khaleas said:It's pretty long (they probably won't take more than 2-3 inches off of it - just enough to get fabric for the alterations). The veil is not the one I'm going to wear and the back will have a panel under the ribbons. I've ran every dress I've looked at by Father so it is approved.

I've seen Matushka's dress so I kind of had an idea of what was ok (and her father was a Bishop).

Aria said:Dear Jennie:
The dress is lovely, but how did you get in? Do you have to untie and then have someone retie all those ribbons in back, or it that just a decoration with a hidden zipper somewhere?
Khaleas said:Well, it's just one long ribbon... the lady at the store did it for me and it took just a minute or so. My Maid of Honor gets to fiddle with it! She said she'd take a ribbon any day... apparently her sister had a dress with like 50 buttons to get closed.
Aria said:LOL. My dress had about 2 pearl buttons down the back.
Hey, for you cat lovers:
You can tell if one is studying to be a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP)
... if they try to teach a cat to meow.
LOL
We have an abandoned kitty who has adopted us and the first time she met me she hissed, so I meowed at her, and finally after a couple of hisses, I got her to meow. Then I fed her. Yes, just like an SLP, I reinforced her good behavior. LOL.
Photini said:An interesting little factoid that I read off a cat-devoted website was that in the wild, adult cats do not meow---it is something only seen in kittens. Only domestic cats continue to meow into their adulthood.
