PRAYER TO SAINT ANTHONY OF PADUA, THE WONDER WORKER


After you died, Saint Anthony,
God chose to make your holiness known to the world
and to draw people by working miracles
in answer to prayers made in your name.

Since then, people have asked God
to continue to honor you
by working wonders through your intercession.

Those who have experienced the power of prayers offered in your name
have told how God has answered them.

God has healed the sick,
restored peace of mind,
relieved poverty and granted favors of all kinds.

Now in this time of need, I ask you, Saint Anthony,
to pray with me for the things I desire.

I pray that God may again give us a sign of loving care
and providence and that, through you,
God may draw us all to the fullness of life and love in eternity.
Thank you in advance, through our Lord Jesus Christ.

I read something about St Anthony years ago where the town people shunned him preaching God so he went and preached to the fish in a near by pond and all the fish came up to the top singing God's praise.

I read he's also (I think) the only Saint that was visited by the child Jesus... that's why there are statues and images of him holding the baby Jesus.

I have no idea, first I heard of that. I have or had a small devotional book about St Anthony. God willing, I'll try to find it.

Warrior Angel, I have to share with you what just happened. I'm at work and one of my regular ladies I do comes in and she asks me if I'm Catholic and I say, yeah, so she asks me to help her... She asks me who is this saint? And she pulls out a Saint Anthony image. And I said, that's Saint Anthony. He was holding the baby Jesus and she asked me to tell her about him. I then recalled what I read. The baby Jesus would visit him and he would play with and entertain the baby Jesus. He is the only Saint we see holding the baby Jesus with the exception of St. Joseph.
So then she looks at me real serious and says she thinks it's a sign... I was thinking, you bet it is.

So there you go. God answers prayers.

I think the sign was for me but she did recently come to my mind to pray for her. She's a nice lady who's older and she's survived breast cancer and has other issues. She has bursitis and has fallen a few times so she uses a cain. She is an independent person but upon talking to her I realized she's alone and now that her mobility has worsened she doesn't have anyone really to help her. She lives alone, has no children or family here. So I pray for her.
