Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, I felt compelled to share this with you even though I know it can easily be misconstrued as just a case of absent-mindedness but I strongly beleive it was not.
Everyday I carry with me a green scapular of the Blessed Virgin Mary that had been blessed and was an unexpected gift from my deeply devoted aunt who lives on the other side of the country. I wear it when I pray and carry it in my pocket during the day (because I wear Mary's Miraculous Medal around my neck).
Last Wednesday I put on a new shirt which had a chest pocket and I placed the scapular in that pocket. That night I changed shirts before going to our church's yearly carnival with my sister and her boyfriend. I had forgotten to take the scapular. That night I could not find the scapular. I was sure it had slipped out of the shirt pocket and into my messy pile of clothes so I wasn't too worried.
Thursday night I decided to find it once and for all so I very carefully went through all of my clothes in my pile, in my hamper, looked all over the floor of my bedroom and closet but could not find my scapular. Now I was worried. I wondered if it fell out of my shirt pocket on Wednesday and is lying in the street somewhere.
I started to pray to St. Anthony (patron saint of lost articles) to please help me find my scapular. I again went through everything in my room and even looked in my car and around the house but didn't find it. I prayed over and over to St. Anthony while looking around but alas I had exhausted every place I could think of. I sadly accepted the fact that it was lost for good and told myself I never ever should have left it in that pocket.
Well....
Friday night I put back all of the clothes that I had strewn about my room and had already accepted the fact that it was lost. I prayed to Our blessed Mother for forgiveness for my losing it.
Saturday morning I was sitting at my computer and I rested my hands on my hips for a second and I noticed that there was something in my left pocket. Praise the Lord it was my scapular! I have no idea how it got there. Well actually, I do know - it was St. Anthony. Thank you St. Anthony of Padua!
Brothers and sisters, I hope that we all take some time to learn about our blessed saints for there intercession is great indeed.
Glory be to the Father, to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
