Spiritual Gifts Forum Statement of Purpose
The Spiritual Gifts forum is a place for members to discuss the "gifts of the Spirit", also known as the spiritual gifts. The gifts of the Spirit are referenced in Romans 12:6-8, 1 Corinthians 12:4-11, and 1 Corinthians 12:28. The spiritual gifts that may be discussed in this forum are: Prophecy, Service, Teaching, Exhortation (encouraging), Giving, Leadership, Mercy, Wisdom (speaking Biblical truth), Knowledge (spiritual insight), Faith, Distinguishing of Spirits (discernment), Apostleship, Administration, Evangelism, Shepherd or Pastor.
The spiritual sign gifts: Speaking in Tongues, Interpretation of Tongues, Healing, and Miracles; may not be discussed or promoted in this forum. Please discuss the sign gifts in the Sign Gifts forum (no debate allowed). If you wish to debate whether or not the sign gifts are still active today, please start a thread in the General Theology forum.
Dreams and visions (and the interpretation of) are not allowed in this forum, but they may be shared and discussed in the Sign Gifts forum. Personal Prophecy (prophetic utterance) will be considered off-topic to all site forums. These may be posted in your own personal blog. The gift of prophecy may be discussed as it pertains to how the gift is exercised or what Scripture says about it, but specific personal prophecies may not be shared in this forum.
Any discussions about the gifts of the Spirit, Scripture, and Christian theology should be done in a spirit of love and humility, exhibiting mutual respect and grace towards one another, with the goal of increasing spiritual insight and knowledge with the Holy Spirit's guidance. Discussions should not turn into a heated debate. Members who participate in this forum are not here to win an argument or prove a point, they are here to learn from one another and grow spiritually. We would like this forum to remain a safe place where Christian members from all denominations can discuss and learn more about the spiritual gifts.
