Many people I've talked to including family members have felt the presence of spirits on many occasions. My Mother and Aunt seem to have the nak for feeling the presence of evil. My mother-in-law claims that she's been visited by deceased family members throughout her life. My wife experienced very strange phenomena shortly after a friend passed and then again after her grandmother passed. My Mother felt the presence of a niece and my grandmother shortly after they passed. I cannot recall a time in my life where I've felt the presence of a spirit other than the Holy Spirit. Is it likely they have been visited by the spirits of the deceased or is it more likely that Satan is trying to find an opportunity to distract them? Perhaps this is a gift of sorts? It seems that most of these experiences happen right after the family member "gives up the ghost". Anyone else have similar experiences or thoughts?

These are called familiar spirits. They are demons that know the memories, lifestyle, actions and personality of the deceased and they imitate them in motivation of possibly leading the recipent of these messages visions astray ...so that they begin to contact medians, tarot cards, quiji boards etc...to open the door for the demon to come in...or even when they entertain these visions of the prescence of these spirts they open the door and give them permission to come into their home....usually that is when..the " familiar spirit" will reveal its true "identity or motivation" Usually by then its too late for the person to realize that this is not the deceased person to "get out or close the door"

I believe it is possible for a loved one to let someone know that they "made it to glory" but thats it...there are no continued visitations...messages etc...for to be present from the body is to be present before the Lord..for judgment.

Hope this helps...questions let me know. GB

Hi,

You know it is interesting that you say it happened after people became deceased, when my grandfather died my mother and some of her siblings saw him in a dream, almost to tell them he is ok, as far as I know it never happened again.......my mother is a Christian and do not get involved in any of the occult activities, so I do not believe it was a familiar spirit like in the cases where most people believe it is a demon in disguise.

So there is a chance that it could happen, but I will be weary if I can feel spirits during the day.

All the best!

I was with my mom when she passd on. Seen her seperate from her body and move around the room towards my sister who was comming in the doorway.
I went to my sister and felt moms presence.
I was also with dad when he died but I was unaware of anything like that happening with him.
That was over 30 years ago and I've never seen anything like that since.
People who say it was a demon really have no idea what they are talking about.

I believe they are referring to familiar spirits who can disguise them as a family member.......what you saw I believe was truly your mother, but it is very rare to see your love one leave their body.....when they start to come back regularly I would be concerned.

Be blessed!

I am trying to understand it. I've seen my son's great grandma who has been dead for 7 years now. I saw her twice and then no more. I was researching it and I read where they get like a visitation pass from God then can that be right they are not able to come whenever they want?

One time I asked my great grandma to come and worship with me I was lonley and she didn't and I didn't know why. I know she watches over me but, I am still learning. Stay Blessed!

Hello,

Did you get a message from her the times you saw her? Was it in a dream/vision/in person?
I have never heard of God giving visitation passes out to the citizens of Heaven, but I do not know everything so pass on that info about that issue if you still have it.

A familiar spirit would not join you to pray, trust me! ;)

I believe we have angels protecting us, not any of our deceased family members......for the chances is good that a familiar spirit would disguise himself as family to gain our trust.....so I would not pursue any of my dead family at all, God warns us about these things.

You must never forget, you are never alone, God carries you when you can't, He is the most faithful and knows the best for us, many feel God does not react fast enough on their prayers, but I do believe many of us know God will always come through, but does not do it on our clock........look at David and Josef....

All the best my friend, you do have friends here! :groupray:

When dead creation visits in a dream, it is 2 things, A dream that you created from
your life or it is of the spirit. A created dream, when you Grand Father and you
are watching TV. or playing football etc. But if he turns to you and says anything of
a spiritual nature. Like follow me to heaven. We know that Jesus is the Way to the Father. Not dead creation. So I would then remind the Grand Father that he is dead
and ask him his name and business. I ignore all my dreams of deceased people, or any
other spiritual beings, even if it looks like jesus.
Jesus is the Word, I do not need spirits, visions or dreams telling me likewise.

Hi Gary,

Do you get visited regularly by deceased in your dreams? I have never experienced that!
I would really be concerned if my deceased grandfather tells me to follow him to heaven, for my first thought would be that he is not who he seems to be......and probably pray that he must be covered with the blood of Christ in the name of Jesus!
I agree with you, Jesus is the Word, but there are many examples where people were visited by Jesus, for ex. Paul, I do believe when we see Jesus we will know His voice if we are born again.

All the best my brother!

I believe spirits of family members who are deceased are sort of guardian souls who do not cease to exist. It depends on the form we see them. Most of the time, its Satan trying to manipulate our mind. But some cases I have experienced dreams of passed ones who often come with good messages. Example was when I was about to lose my job, my dad appeared in my dream and cried for me. But He smiled as he went on and said take care. To me, he was my dad. And the next day I had a call frm my Director who confirmed the closure of the company. It was indeed a closure!

And I always pray the Lord bestows His blessings upon all deceased souls.

When my grandmother passed, my mom said she felt her presence sitting in a living room chair. She knew it was her and then it went away. She has always been very gifted when it comes to detecting familiar spirits or demons and she always believed that any spirit visiting you besides the holy spirit is most likely an evil spirit. I questioned her about that when she told me about my grandmother, but she was positive it was her. She couldn't explain it and now views that sort of thing a little different. I think for now I can settle for accepting the possibility that the spirits of lost loved ones have a short window in which they can visit right after they die. I guess I'll definitely find out one of these days:)

I don't believe it was a vision. I've had visions before and then they came to pass so I would have to say she came to me in person.

After talking with my ex-husband and explaining to him how I could describe his grandma when I never met her. Something else came out and it was the hair. Because her hair was long and black and all I kept thinking was how can her hair be black and I felt she was older all though I didn't get a chance to see her face clearly. And when I asked him about the hair he laughed and said - yes I used to tease her all the time that she died her hair but, his family doesn't get grey like that it's in their genes he says.. And I laughed too because when I think about it... maybe she gave that to me and knew I would say it to my ex.. and that would be confirmation for him and me. He said he missed her everyday because he was closer to her than his mother and he loves his mother- he is a mama's boy..(lol) So I think I understand. It was awareness for me and comforting for my ex husband. Glory To God!

Thank you for telling me that my grandma wouldn't come back just to praise with me.. I didn't know they couldn't.. I am learning.

Where does the bible say not to pursue family members that have passed?

I like for people to share feedback I believe that's how we learn.. But, First is what God shows or told me, Second what the Holy Ghost says or trains me on, then people - which must fall in align with what was shown or told to me by God. And I forgot an experience comes before people. How can you doubt it if you have an experience.

Question: "What does the Bible say about ghosts / hauntings?"

Answer: Is there such a thing as ghosts? The answer to this question depends on what precisely is meant by the term “ghosts.” If the term means “spirit beings,” the answer is a qualified “yes.” If the term means “spirits of people who have died,” the answer is “no.” The Bible makes it abundantly clear that there are spirit beings, both good and evil. But the Bible negates the idea that the spirits of deceased human beings can remain on earth and “haunt” the living. Hebrews 9:27 declares, “Man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment.” That is what happens to a person’s soul-spirit after death—judgment. The result of this judgment is heaven for the believer (2 Corinthians 5:6-8; Philippians 1:23) and hell for the unbeliever (Matthew 25:46; Luke 16:22-24). There is no in-between. There is no possibility of remaining on earth in spirit form as a “ghost.” If there are such things as ghosts, according to the Bible, they absolutely cannot be the disembodied spirits of deceased human beings. The Bible teaches very clearly that there are indeed spirit beings who can connect with and appear in our physical world. The Bible identifies these beings as angels and demons. Angels are spirit beings who are faithful in serving God. Angels are righteous, good, and holy. Demons are fallen angels, angels who rebelled against God. Demons are evil, deceptive, and destructive. According to 2 Corinthians 11:14-15, demons masquerade as “angels of light” and as “servants of righteousness.” Appearing as a “ghost” and impersonating a deceased human being definitely seem to be within the power and abilities that demons possess.

The closest biblical example of a “haunting” is found in Mark 5:1-20. A legion of demons possessed a man and used the man to haunt a graveyard. There were no ghosts involved. It was a case of a normal person being controlled by demons to terrorize the people of that area. Demons only seek to “kill, steal, and destroy” (John 10:10). They will do anything within their power to deceive people, to lead people away from God. This is very likely the explanation of “ghostly” activity today. Whether it is called a ghost, a ghoul, or a poltergeist, if there is genuine evil spiritual activity occurring, it is the work of demons. What about instances in which “ghosts” act in “positive” ways? What about psychics who claim to summon the deceased and gain true and useful information from them? Again, it is crucial to remember that the goal of demons is to deceive. If the result is that people trust in a psychic instead of God, a demon will be more than willing to reveal true information. Even good and true information, if from a source with evil motives, can be used to mislead, corrupt, and destroy. Interest in the paranormal is becoming increasingly common. There are individuals and businesses that claim to be “ghost-hunters,” who for a price will rid your home of ghosts. Psychics, séances, tarot cards, and mediums are increasingly considered normal. Human beings are innately aware of the spiritual world. Sadly, instead of seeking the truth about the spirit world by communing with God and studying His Word, many people allow themselves to be led astray by the spirit world. The demons surely laugh at the spiritual mass-deception that exists in the world today.

It is written that we should not try to connect to the death, you have been given a few scriptures, but I would like to give you another scripture...
2 Samuel 12:22 He answered, "While the child was still alive, I fasted and wept. I thought, 'Who knows? The LORD may be gracious to me and let the child live.' 23 But now that he is dead, why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I will go to him, but he will not return to me.

You see them as dead and I see them as alive. God gives a second life but, true Life - where you are really alive. Is Jesus dead- No Jesus is alive.. and we who pass enter into Life because of Jesus and because our Father said so.. God can not lie. Stay Blessed!

Hi,

You miss understood me and the verse out of the Bible I gave you......what did he say, I will go to him and his child will not return to him.............why would he say that he will go to his child if he is dead........our love ones who were children of God when they died, are going to the Father and we will meet them later when we pass this life.
We are not going to go to and from, from Heaven to earth.....that is the way I see it! So trying to communicate with the dead will make a person a necromancer........:sorry:

Jesus is alive!
