What's the perspective on species preservation from a six day creation perspective? If all species are derivatives of archetypes, then why invest efforts in order to preserve derivatives? For example, house cats and bobcats can produce hybrids. Why preserves bobcats if all they are is subsets of a basic archetypes, or any other derivative for that matter?

To preserve genetic diversity - if you lose a genetic variation altogether, you're not going to get it back again.
