Special services

I was raised in a church that always had 4 day long summer services with preaching and teaching all day long, and families from all over the place gathered to be there. It was sort of like a camp thing.

I am wondering if any of you know of any WELS or ELS meetings like that? (A several day Bible focused thing)

Hmm..we're having a "how to read your bible better" semniar next weekend..but I've never heard of a "service" as extensive as that before..

It was semiars and services.. with breaks every now and then
Usually started with Morning service at 8, coffee at 10, sermons till lunch, more sermons and prayer etc till dinner and so on.. The dining place was open all the time though and one didn't have to stay for all the sermons.

(This is where they had the 6 hour long Communion I mentioned in some thread before)

They have quit a few of these in the non-denom, charismatic churches. I went to a few about 20+ years ago and they were run like a regular camp with teachings, bible classes, services and lots of sports activities.

The LCMS ran camps like that at the same time and still do. There's a large amount of them all over the US. Just Google them.

It just came to mind when you asked the question because they hold week long rallys in certain places where all sorts of families come and they stay in bunkhouses, and trailers and so on and it's a week of they type of things you mentioned.

They are quite common here because a group were brought to Cando, ND by Mr. Hannah, the immigration agent for Burlington Northern Railroad.

They are a quite people and unless you end up knowing some personally, many would miss that they even are a church since they have no obvious clergy, no church buildings and so on.
