Speaking in tounges

Im pentecostal and I believe in speaking in tounges. I dont understand something though. Ive heard preachers say "If you know how to pray in tounges do so now"...is it something that you can just do at will. Is it something that you actually learn..or something that rolls off your tounge?

You may want to see tongues as prayer language. Just as you use English with your neighbor, you use tongues to speak to the Lord. Of course, you can speak to the Lord in English. Nothing's wrong with that.

Though it is a language, you pretty much get it as a gift from the Lord. But there is also a learning part.

As you can speak English at will, tongues you can speak at will in principle. It may take some learning and training from the Lord to be really fluent.

Not because I say you get it as a gift from the Lord, but because the Bible tells you so, go to the Lord and ask him to give it to you. You may want to do some Bible study on tongues, and learn that it is promised to you. Then, with assurance, you will be able to ask the Lord for it.
