I know I'm not a model Christian or even an ok Christian but I go when I can when I feel up to it.
I went to Thursday nights mass for maunday Thursday and was called a Christmas and Easter Christian it really offended me. The reason I don't go every Sunday is because I have had some bad experiences and have also had some very good very moving experiences it's the moving experiences where I basically have a panic attack that freak me out so I don't put my self In that stress when I am not 100% well in my self... Being called a Christmas and Easter Christian really made me feel upset... Sorry just needed to vent.

Not sure how you can be a Christmas and Easter Christian if you showed up on Maundy Thursday, but I guess it mainly depends on how it was said.

I am sorry this happened to you, SR. Whoever said that to you is out of order. You do what you can, and that is all that any of us can do. I struggle to attend church myself, so I know what that can be like.

That kind of comment is not going to encourage anyone to attend church, and in my view ought never to be said.

Good point.

I once went to a Thursday morning Mass and heard a sermon against us all being Sunday Christians. It was the wrong time for that kind of message, really.

Someone said this to you individually?

That's rather disturbed.

Sorry you had a hard time. Forgiveness is an option in the long run ;)

Good on ya for trying to go. It truly cannot hurt, and God sees your efforts. Perhaps speaking with someone about the crisis of faith you're having (even on here, as you have done in this thread) will help as well.

A tactless minister's daughter, there's a first [/sarcasm]

Here's a little tip for dealing with PKs. Mostly they are lovely. Occasionally they are horribly horrendously judgmental and assume because their dad/mum is the pastor, they are super spiritual. At that point, laugh it off and move on, and if it happens again, raise it with their parents.

This happened to my husband and me on Christmas Eve years ago when we were newly married, in a new town, and looking for a church to start going to. It is also a big reason why we are not Presbyterians even though that's the denomination we both grew up in :D

I still regret not standing up and leaving the service when that was said in the sermon.

It happens. I went to Mass for the Easter service, and much talk was about Christ dying for our sins, and that we have been given the Apostolic Succession to cleanse ourselves with Confession. Inasmuch as I do not go to church very often, I suppose it was more of my pride talking, and I am hoping to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation soon enough.

Whatever the case, while I myself was a little disturbed in my pew, I saw a couple of grown burly-looking men crying with love and Christ's acceptance. I have never seen two grown men cry before, let alone in a church service!

I suppose I was humbled by that. While I have my own ego to battle with, others' actions and faith humble me all the more, and I wish I had a stronger faith sometimes! I do not go to Mass enough, or live out my faith through charity work well enough; I am not the greatest Christian, but I know that humility also means getting out of my skin to fellowship with others, even if that means regular attendance.
