I have a burden on my heart to pray for the leaders of churches today....I learned a long time ago that pastors, teachers, and leaders of churches suffer great persecution and even temptation. Sometimes we as "sheep" put too much expectation on the pastors/leaders to be responsible for the direction of the church. Gossiping, backbiting, anger and resentment towards your pastor is a sin. Let's remember, they have trials and tribulations as well and without our prayers they become discouraged and it can even have an effect on his teaching.

The Bible tells us to pray for our leaders and those in authority....
Well I went and found this wonderful list of intercessory prayers for pastors/leaders
This was one I liked alot:
7. Jesus, keep our pastor and leaders holy in every way (1 Peter 1:16). Protect our shepherd from seducing spirits, especially when he is tired and hard-pressed. Give Pastor comrades to help protect him, and to share with in personal holiness (James 4:7). As he draws near to You, draw near to him (James 4:8). Cancel the power of out-of-the-will-of-God prayers and. curses against our shepherd. Nullify sin’s effect exerted against him (Ephesians 1:22). Amen.

The healthiest churches I've ever seen, sit the pastor down in the front pew an hour before service and they lay hands on him and pray over him for that hour.....

OH Wow, that is so awesome! We really need to bring awareness to the church world how badly this sort of thing needs to happen on a regular basis!

Well in a small way this is my part in bringing awareness.

Awesome thread! One of my favorite pastor always asks the congregation before he starts preaching to "pray for God to put His words in that mans mouth" (referring to himself).

With the apostasy within our churches today, we need more than ever to pray for the leadership that they lead their flocks into truth and not into error.

I so agree!....and I believe we need to take responsibility in keeping them lifted up in prayer.

yes indeed as a minister myself it's very much appreciated when the members pray for us just as we pray for the members.

It's great for the body of christ be together

How about these pastors ? Do we need to pray for them too ?
I didnt make this video neither do i comment anything
Those who are "false teachers" are going to definitely rise up...the Bible says so.
I will share with you the story of Pastor Carlton Pearson who had a strong anointing and God had moved on his life mightily and eventually he came to pastor a church of over 5,000. Somewhere along the way he claimed to have had an epiphany that hell isn't real....how he fell into this lie I have no idea...but he did. Pastors can be led astray from the truth. This is why we need to keep them lifted in prayer.

Pastoral burnout: Pastor Burnout Statistics

According to the New York Times (August 1, 2010) "Members of the clergy now suffer from obesity, hypertension and depression at rates higher than most Americans. In the last decade, their use of antidepressants has risen, while their life expectancy has fallen. Many would change jobs if they could."

I didn't know this but it confirms why I have such a burden to pray for pastors. Thank you for sharing this information.
