• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I have constantly written and said that one of my worst experiences in the media was on the Jane Wallace show here in Philadelphia four years ago when I was nearly lynched by an angry audience when Jane Wallace brought up my defense of man-boy love in Sexual Personae. Her audience went crazy, absolutely crazy. Usually audiences love me. I have never felt such hatred in my life. People stood up and were screaming at me that I'm sick. I was utterly outraged. They were just out of control, the irrational emotions welling to the surface. It was an appalling experience, and I threatened to walk off the show at one point. It was unbelievable to have such hatred focused against one. But that emboldened me even further, because I knew that if you have that kind of irrationality coming out of the unconscious lives of an entire audience like that, that this issue cuts very, very deep, and it needs more exploration, not more avoidance.
Perhaps some of you can remember similar displays of "irrationality" when a related issue was emerging decades ago.

An issue related to pedophilia that produced those kinds of results? I'm sorry, I'm drawing a blank, could you give me a clue?

It's fairly common for crowds to be thrashed up into a frenzy. They're emotional amplifiers, just look at a rock concert or a revival meeting. Sometimes these mobs can be driven to negative emotions, especially rage. The hate can be so powerful that even level headed people can be caught up in it, wondering later how they got to that point.

Paedophilia is an especially volatile topic for a lot of people, so a reaction of a crowd like this is hardly surprising.

I think we should take up a pool.

My guess: gays.

It is possible, but homosexuals are not criminals where pedophiles are. Certainly comparing homosexuals to those who are committing criminal acts cannot be the intent, as it would be like comparing plumbers to criminals. It just doesn't make sense.

I don't know what yguy's after, but I see people comparing homosexuality to pedophilia all the time. The line goes that they're both forms of sexuality that go against "the natural order," or something.

Denying entirely the fact that homosexuality is consensual, and pederasty is not...

Which side is being intolerant?

Generally speaking, people are usually intolerant of criminal activities.

Yes, but what might be a crime today might not be a crime tomorrow. There are a number of things that have been decriminalized over the years. It seems that even God (according to mainstream Christian belief) decriminalized a great number of His OT laws. Apparently it became too difficult for Gentiles to keep them so God compromized the law just for them.
