Given that they have long been lost, isn't it magical how you come to know exactly what they contained? And as for "routine history," you had better ask yourself what would have been routine in the context of that culture - which definitely was not post Enlightenment Europe.
I don't claim to know what they contained, only that they didn't survive. But what is clear is that the miraculous recasting of their entire history contains rediculous claims that have warped the historical worldview of a great many people. Within the conflicted remains of the OT books we can see traces of what they may have contained.
This is more true of bishop Ushers book. He had a lot of books available that we no longer have. We do not need those books anymore because the information has been preserved in the Bishops book.I don't claim to know what they contained, only that they didn't survive. "And the four angels who had been kept ready for this very hour and day and month and year were released to kill a third of mankind." Rev 9:8Matthew 24:23:
Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.
Matthew 24:36:
But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
What a shame, the world's people will always seek after false prophets like Harry Camp and such instead of reading the word of God for themselves.
"And the four angels who had been kept ready for this very hour and day and month and year were released to kill a third of mankind." Rev 9:8
God knows the hour, day, month and year.
Of course God knows, but does man? NO. So those billboards are just hoaxes.
I did not say anything. You were doing all the talking. I just threw a verse out there to see what you might have to say about it.Stop trying to take verses out of context to support your agenda. Here are the verses you left out.
Deuteronomy 18:20:
20: But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die.
21 And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the LORD hath not spoken?
I suppose that diatribe can be taken to mean that they understood history in terms of God's activity within it. Which again, would simply have been taken for granted. It was not something up for debate, as it is today - it was everybody's presupposition.
Is the resurrection amongst their ridiculous claims?

Just like the genealogy of Jesus were destroyed with the temple in around 70 ad. They are preserved in the Bible so there was no reason to preserve the copy they had in the temple in Jerusalem.
So do I.I plan to be raptured out of here at the end of this age.
Today's science is antibiblical and has an agenda to sterilize as much of the Bible as it can before the Antichrist shows up.Which makes me wonder why people say we do not have to follow the diet laws in the Bible when science can show we do have to follow those laws if we want to live a long life.
If you read the quote I was responding to the statement: "imagine if the Bible actually meant places of learning!"
So we were discussing the meaning of the word Bible. I avoided a discussion on the Phonecians (phonics) and what their contribution was.
I do belive you are employed by one, are you not?Except I was referring to the word "college."
I do belive you are employed by one, are you not?
What's wrong?
The one mentioned in the Bible wouldn't pay as much as your employer, so you had to bad-mouth it?
Or was it that it doesn't have a football team that calls its cheerleaders "harlots"?
IOW, they don't pay as much. The one mentioned in the Bible doesn't hire teachers.
IOW, they don't pay as much.
Thought so.
What do they do?
Make them work for nothing?
The Bible is a story of the Hebrew people (nation). The disciples were very surprised that the gentile (non Jewish) people could be saved. Jesus said He was sent to the lost sheep of Isreal.I understand your point but neither does ANY other culture on earth trace their blood lines to Noah in their books.
