I was hit by what I would consider to be an extreme attack of OCD. I have a few notes from that experience to share.
- It's ok to stop listening, turn off, and get away from whatever is contributing to your OCD.
- It's ok to pray to God on your own terms.
- It's ok to ask for the help you need, rather than the help you think you should need.
- It's ok to read scripture on your own terms.
- It's ok to focus on helpful passages.
- God doesn't give us a spirit of fear, but of strength (2 Tim 1:7).
- We receive the Spirit of God by the hearing of faith (Rom 10:17).
- OCD isn't from God. If it's triggered by religion, then you already have faith, but you might not be fighting back in the way you need.
- It's ok to seek out the help of a professional, if you need it.
