  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Just north of DC here in downtown Silver Spring MD. First nibble is at 1:17, max coverage (85%) at 2:42, and the last nibble is at 4:01 pm Eastern.

Forecast is for mostly cloudy with a heavy thunderstorm moving in about 4.

Ya; we have smoke from our numerous forest fires in the area; makes everything yellow.

Science channel on cable has a special program; also the local TV channels are showing something special; it's like a party across the whole USA; i'M breaking out my special "dark" chocolate just for this darkening of the Sun!

We live in Washington. We traveled to just south of Salem to view totality, and we loved it. Got in the night before, to avoid crowds. (It was way more crowded going home than coming in.)

For Washingtonians, we do like Oregon. Spent our first night together as a married couple in Brookings, and one of our earliest dates was to Seaside and Tillamook.

Yes; I have went to Washington on vacation and missed all the parks and resorts on the Oregon coast.

I don't know if everybody from other places knows that the whole Oregon coast is designated a state park; no private development is allowed on the coast.
