• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Hi all,
I just want to share a message of hope. In 2001, I was separated from my husband and started drinking again, after years of sobriety in AA. I was terrified of what the future had for me. I drank a couple of times a week, but was working my way to my daily drunks from years gone by.

Praise the Lord, my therapist scared me and I returned to Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. On September 25, 2001 I had my last drink of alcohol. A few months later, the house I had lived in for 23 years with my children was sold, and I moved into an apartment. A few weeks later, my daughter got married. The next day, I learned my youngest son was using heroin. I was so tempted to escape it all, but God gave me strength and grace to not drink.

Since then, I have completed a Masters in Social Work, and have done internships with mentally ill addicts and alcoholics. I have such a burden for these people, which God has given me. I am praying for a job with the mentally ill.

All of this is to say that God is in the miracle business, and I am living proof of that.

Yes, very nicely done
I don't know if everyone knows just how destructive and addictive alcohol can be. It is a very hard drug IMO
and the fact you can face it, defeat it even facing those odds sweet
very inspiring did u know u could be this strong?
peace and prayers to you
Andrew

Andrew,
I had no clue that I could do any of this stuff. God gave the grace when I had nothing left to give but willingness. He sustained and helped me every step of the way.
