My line of inquiry is totally appropriate because:
- Are you saying that if 100% of Christians dont tell the truth all the time, then lying is NOT a sin?
It doesnt matter what percent of whom does what. If pre-marital sex is a sin, then it is a sin. God doesnt grade on a "curve". I am heterosexual - if I have sex with someone I am not married to, then I am sinning and will have to answer to God for it. So will jamielindas or any other gay man.
Gay christians continue to insist that the Bible doesnt say anything about a loving, committed, long-term homosexual relationship. I disagree, but for the sake of argument, assuming that is true, engaging in sex with someone they are not in a long-term commitment with is sinning anyway, just like a heterosexual would be if they had sex with someone they were not married to.
So my question is legit: Does jamielindas (or any other gay man) think that having sex with someone you are not in a long-term (hopefully lifelong) commitment with a sin?
When we stand before God it isn't going to matter if 25%, 50%, or 75% of people had pre-maritial sex or not. All that will matter is what we did, so what difference does it make what percent of heterosexuals or conservative Christians did or didn't do something?
Show me in the scriptures where it says if over 50% of people do ____________, then it isn't a sin.
Am I missing the point you were trying to make, because if I have understood it correctly.................well can you see how it doesn't make sense to use it. Sorry, and please forgive me, if I have not picked up on your meaning and it is different from what I understood.
Do you find my presence upsetting?
The conversation on this forum might be enlightening to those that feel the no sex before marriage thing is universal to all christians

Yes I know. The "Christian Philosophy and Ethics" section of this forum is nothing more than a "I like to do this so I know it's not a sin" section.
There are posters justitfying pornography, pre-marital sex, homosexuality, one night stands, drugs, you name it. They ought to just rename the forum "This is why xxxxxx is NOT a sin, and I'm going to keep on doing it no matter what the Bible says."
Or better yet, we could just rent a big building and have one big christian party - you know, have big screen TVs with gay and straight porn playing, have several rooms available where the "sex before marriage crew" can hook-up, and of course a gay bath, and we could have a great christian fellowship time together! Of course there would be plenty of crack and extasy to go around. I'm sure Christ would be pleased.

I think He would be-after all Jesus dined with tax collectors...maybe He found the people who society looks down upon better company than the likes of you and other "upright" Christians.
There's a difference between "dining with" and accepting their behavior as okay. Jesus also required them to repent, unless you forgot the "Go and sin no more" speech He gave the prostitute. Jesus said that the prostitutes and tax collectors He talked to were going to heaven because they repented! (see below)
Jesus said to them, "I tell you the truth, the tax collectors and the prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God ahead of you. For John came to you to show you the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes did. And even after you saw this, you did not repent and believe him.
Matthew 21: 31-32
In fact, Jesus denounced those who would not repent...
Then Jesus began to denounce the cities in which most of his miracles had been performed, because they did not repent.
Matthew 11:20
All of us sin - the difference is some of us confess our sins and try to do better. Others just try to justify their sins and pretend they are not sins at all.
[Note: The word 'repent' is used 53 times in the New Testament alone.]
I sometimes pop in to read a bit. My life is really hectic so don't have much time to post these days. Still gay, still single
