The bible calls it a millenium and we are in heaven. On the other hand, the purpose of the millenium is to also (i suppose) allow Satan some time to think about what he has done...without anyone to tempt! Satan is clearly going to be doing that on earth and a thousand years should be rather boring for him.

My thought it, it is not a prophetic time prophecy being given, and the bible does tend to talk in earthly days, i think it will be 1,000 earthly years. Having said that, if it turned out to be 1,000 heavenly ones, wouldnt that equal something like 1000 Earth years x 365 days for each year = 365,000 years? Considering the earth is (according to the bible lineage) roughly 6-8,000 years old...its seems rather odd to me to allow the devil to live for hundreds of thousands of years beyond the second coming in order for the Devil to consider his error and contemplate his end!

So im in the 1,000 literal earthly years camp...and that will seem to us as but 1 day in heaven.

When Jesus appears - (at the start of the literal 1000 year period in Rev 20) -- He will rapture all the saints to heaven as we see in Matt 24, and 1 Thess 4:13-18, and as Rev 19 (and 2 Thess 1) states He will destroy all the lost.

That will leave a "desolate Earth" condition as described in Jeremiah 4, for 1000 years on Earth..

When the Bible uses the term "years" it always means literal years.

Some Christians do not believe in Revelation predictions. The Greek Orthodox Church does not include Revelation in their liturgy.

Some want to know when 1000 years will happen. Jesus said, “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Matthew 6:34

I like your thinking and it makes sense. What does not make sense to me is why satan gets to get out after his non-eternal punishment, yet human souls are destined to hell for eternity when their sins are no where near stacked to the heavens like satans are and he tricked and lied and lured people when many of them where unaware of what was going on. Maybe they are ignorant by choice for not reading the Bible and learning about satan. I mean I know a lot of what I would call decent people who are hellbound, I mean they arent the devil himself!

The Bible speaks of a millennium, a thousand-year period of time where God’s people will be dwelling in heaven with Him while Satan and his fallen angels will be bound on earth.

The simplest way to understand the millennium is to go straight to the source. The book of Revelation gives a clear description of how this thousand-year piece of time is going to unfold.

“Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, holding in his hand the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain. And he seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years, and threw him into the pit, and shut it and sealed it over him, so that he might not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were ended. After that he must be released for a little while.

Then I saw thrones, and seated on them were those to whom the authority to judge was committed. Also I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus and for the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is the one who shares in the first resurrection! Rev 19 and Rev 20 have the answers to that.

During the 1000 years:

1. All the lost are dead (see the end of Rev 19, and see Jeremiah 4, 2 Thess 1)
2. All the saints were raptured to heaven at Rev 19 appearing - taken in the "first resurrection" of Rev 20:3-5 1Thess 4:13-18 Matt 24

3. No humans left alive on planet Earth (see Jeremiah 4)
4. All Earth's cities are in ruins (See Jer 4)
5. Satan is bound to this desolate Earth - no humans to annoy.​

After the 1000 years

1. The wicked are raised in the second resurrection Rev 20:4-9
2. The city of God descends from heaven with all the saints in it (See Rev 21)
3. Satan marshals the wicked into an army Rev 20:7-9 and surrounds the city
4. God then conducts the Great White Throne judgment of Rev 20 and casts all the wicked into the lake of fire.
5. Satan is also cast into the lake of fire.​

Satan will face punishment - rest assured. It will be greater than that of anyone else.

Hi the kingdom the comes and covers the earth has no end can only have one beginning and many passages describe the transition and paint a before and after picture. In Dan 2 we see the stone descending coming from heaven striking the images of mans kingdoms and this stone becomes a mountain the is a kingdom that covers the earth and has no end. In Dan 7 we see a man persecuting the saints for 42 months and then a decision that one like the son of man who is before the ancient of days will come and to him is given the kingdom that covers the earth and has no and and it is noted that the pompous one is given the flame just like the beast in Rev.
In Zech 14 we see that the kingdom comes when Jerusalem is being overrun and the LORD comes with his saints and he melts the enemies and in that day the LORD is king over all the earth. In this chapter it is important to see the before and after picture. In says that the nations which are left must now come up to Jerusalem to worship the king or they will get no rain. Now Egypt is singled out for this. Le's look at Rev what is says in ch 15

“Great and marvelous are Your works,

Just and true are Your ways,

4 Who shall not fear You, O Lord, and glorify Your name?

In Luke one we see a prophecy about Jesus, Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name JESUS. 32 He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. 33 And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.”

Isaiah talks about this child coming to take the throne.
For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
7 Of the increase of His government and peace
There will be no end,
Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom,
To order it and establish it with judgment and justice
From that time forward, even forever.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.


now psalm 2 is important because it tells you again where the son will be reigning.

He who sits in the heavens shall laugh;

17 “At that time Jerusalem shall be called The Throne of the LORD, and all the nations shall be gathered to it, to the name of the LORD, to Jerusalem. No more shall they follow the dictates of their evil hearts.

The throne of David is an earthly throne and the covenants made with Israel are also part of the promises to Abraham that in his Seed Jesus all the nations will be blessed. Indeed the throne of David is coming and Jesus will sit on it and will rule the nations with a rod of Iron. The earth will be restored and this kingdom does not end it moves after the 1000 years is over. That is when the new Jerusalem comes down and the great white throne comes.
