The boys and I went fishing at the inlet this afternoon. The bluefish were running and we caught five. Two of them, cleaned and baked whole, made a great late dinner, with Lipton-Knorr Alfredo Noodles , greenbeans, and extra lemony iced tea.

They want to go try to catch some more tommorrow.

Sounds like y'all eat a lot of fish...which is good if yer fishin' a lot. Do you go out on a boat or fish from the dock/bank or boat?

Man, I sure wish we had a boat. So we are stuck on shore for right now. There is also a nearby pier.

In the Marianas where we were for two years recently and hope to return to, we ate even more fish. We could buy fresh tuna, mahi-mahi, wahoo, and all kinds of reef fish for $2 - $3 a pound, right off of boats! That was really wonderful.

If you like sashimi, as we do, nothing beats wahoo for the dish.

Wahoo, they're like barracuda, aren't they? I've never eaten sashimi, having grown up in the midwest our fish pretty much was bass, trout, and crappie...and they generally aren't prepared in very fancy ways--roll in corn meal and fry 'em up

It is hard to beat simply fried fresh water fish.
I agree. I never ate much fish until a few years ago, when I determined to learn how to cook it properly. If it was good enough for the Lord, I figured, it must be good enough for me! Now I prefer it almost more than meat -- and that's saying something.

We ate like we did on Saipan tonight. Grilled fish (the other three bluefish we caught yesterday) served with white rice. I made two sauces to go with it: soy sauce with a bit of minced onions added, and the following:

ACADEMIC's Saipan Sauce for all Meats
1/2 cup fresh squeezed sour citrus such as lemon, lime, sour orange.
2 cloves garlic, minced fine
1 green top of a green onion, minced fine
7-8 fresh Chiltepin hot peppers OR 7 - 8 Thai hot peppers OR 1 fresh Habanero Pepper, minced fine (seeds optional)
1 tsp fresh chopped cilantro leaves (optional)

Combine in a glass container (don't use stainless steel!), cover, and let sit at room temp for an hour or two. Refrigerate unused portions. Keeps several days. I like this best over fish and pork.

The boys and I went fishing for bluefish again today. We brought home 8 of 'em!

We arrived home about 8pm to Lasagna my wife had made. My two older boys and I then had a "bluefish cleaning party," and then we shared a plate of bluefish sashimi I sliced thin.

I'm bushed!

Any guesses about what's on the menu tommorow? (Hint: it's fish and it's blue).

Marie Callendar Parmesan Cheese Chicken Pot Pie

like it easy on a Sunday...

1Cr 10:16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?

When I start thinking about food, Jesus pops into mind.

Whole bluefish drizzled with with butter, lemon, white wine, green onions, and seasoned salt, wrapped tight in foil and baked; served with white rice, soy sauce, my habanero citrus sauce, and a can of carrots.

I'd like to catch a bluefish this big.

While your fishing have you seen any signs of new disciples?

I do enjoy fishing for fish because it is a dad and sons thing, but fishing for men is indeed where my deepest passion lies.

I am new on this anabaptist forum and am just feeling things out. Whos who in the pew?

I have never been connected with any anabaptist denomination but those of us who were part of the Jesus People movement in California in the late 60s and early 70s were motivated by the primitive Christians in the Book of Acts.

The anabaptist denomination I can identify with the most is the Hutterites. Thay are the closest to what I am acustomed to.

I have fellowshiped with modern Mennonits in Virginia and found them to be very nice people but lacking the spirit of their forbearers. Most seem to be well educated humanists without a zeal for living the gospel.

It seems they are having a hard time finding pastors. That surprised me.

At the Mennonite church I attended in Richmond they had hired an outside pastor who was introducing Roman Catholic litergy. The litergy is no substatute for scripture. We continued on our way.

I find that my hunger for Gods Word grows daily.

I am the father of 5 sons and 3 daughters all over 21.

One of my sons was killed two years ago with a 38 bulllet through his heart. As he died in his brothers arms his last words were,"Thank you Jesus". The killer who is now in prison heard those words and has come to repentance.

In the last few days we have been getting reports that some of the young friends my children grew up with, are accepting the Lord.

I am convinced, that we are in the prophetic LAST DAYS with many differances from earlier periods.

So now you know what I like for dinner, more Jesus.

With love in Christ
